I have a rather tiny entrance area in my apartment which desperately needs redecoration. The floor is light oak, so I guess that yellowy tones won't go with that too well. The doors are off-white/cream and I won't change them. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't try to match the flooring; I would want to complement it. In the creamy/whites and beige palettes, you'll find hundreds of colors. Try to find a light hue that will go well with the oak flooring.

If you enter the living room off the entrance area, why not take a cue from your color-scheme and work with a shade that would go well with decorating theme? It doesn't have to match; just complement.

Have you seen those entrance tables that are half-round? I know what they're called, just can't think of it! (Lunar, maybe???) If your area would accomodate one of those, maybe a glass-topped table with a lamp would give you more light in the entrance.

You could also try a narrow shelf with a mirror above it.

Is there a ceililng light fixture in the entrance? Could you change it to a handsome hanging one with multiple bulbs? That would give you more brilliance in the evening. A good-looking accent rug would be nice beneath the light fixture - one in rich jewel tones would be beautiful.

If this is not workable, what about wall sconces for candles? I have some with hanging globes that look lovely with votives or those little round ball candles. They lend a lot of ambience with the beautiful flickering candlelight when the room is dimly lit.
