C-Unit, it's best to go where you and your cousin will feel comfortable. Choose one, either the lie in the sun or the crazy idea type vacations, it does matter, just agree on one and go and have some fun and adventure with your cousin.
Check a travel agency if you all can not agree on a location.(they can suggest all the great deals)
You don't want to start a fraud over "where we should go" before the vacation even started because it's not so much about the DESTINATION that's matter but it's about the JOURNEY with your cousin that will matters most of all and what you all will remember for a lifetime.
Yes, use the downtime to sort things out and to relaxed .Then use the balance of the time to laugh, to have fun and to have a bit of adventure.
Hope this will help, have fun and good luck.

Depends where your home country is I surpose. I went on a 3 week tour of Romania a while back and it was one of the best holidays of my life, the trains are great out there and cheap too. The country has everything, mountains, open plains, nice beaches and we were asked everywhere we went if we wanted to stay at peoples houses - we did and ate some amazing food and met some brilliant people. Cluj is worth a visit as it transilvania, continestu (can't remember how that is spelt) on the coast and brasov - all is within reach in a week.
Morroco is worth look too perhaps just marrecksh and Fez though.

A couple of days in a gamepark in South Africa followed by a drive down the East Coast, highest Bungie Jump in the world, forest canopy walks, few days in Cape Town, hike or cable car to the top of the mountain, get some interesting wares at Greenmarket square and catch some live African drumming and dancing. Do a wine tour - still fun even if you´re not a big wine fan. Eat at one of the outside restaurants at night at the V&A waterfront. Check out the nightlife!
Take a ferry to Robben Island, check out Mandela´s old cell, take a drive around the peninsula to Cape Point ( one of the most scenic waterside drives in the world) and the list goes on...
enjoy!

The trans Siberian won't get you anywhere in a week, unless you want to spend your holiday in a train with no toilet paper or drinkable water.
How about Lapland: skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoe trekking, huskysledding and loads of peace and quiet if that's what you're after... Finland, Norway and Sweden all have excellent resorts, bit March is high season so you need to be quick to reserve.

I admire the thought but think one week is pushing things a little If you have the ability to extend the time how about transiting the Karakorum highway, (Supply your own rifle)
