Would I have a better chance of getting into Harvard College for undergraduates if I did English Literature (which is higher than regular english as one of my subjects?).

I am going to do Chemistry, Physics, Introductory Calculus, Geometry & Trigonometry, Italian and either English or english literature.

All of these subjects are the highest ones available for me for Year/grade 11. Also, would they (Harvard) prefer I did Italian (language) or a Society and Environment subject such as Geography or history or would they not care? I am extremely good at Society and Environment but the language is more challenging.
What ones should I choose? English literature is harder. I am very good at English. In english literature you analyse pieces. I am not sure whether I would be required to write poems..that is a weakness of mine). Would Harvard care aout undertaking the most rigorous curriculum on offer for me or would they care more about my SAT scores?

The question is: Should I take English Literature or English?

Also, should I continue with Italian or do a society and environment subject such as History?

Although I am not sure of how Harvard might feel, I think it would be better for you to take English Literature. To be a well rounded person, which should be your goal in attending any university, you have to be well versed in literature. As for the SAT scores, they do count, but they're not everything. I personally knew a classmate in high school that earned a perfect score on his SATs and was rejected from Harvard.
