You should always try and warm up because if you ever do pull a muscle you could be out of training for months! They can also be incredibly painful, i know as i speak from experience.

As you move higher up the levels you will be expected to do harder moves as well and if you haven't warmed up and then stretched you will not be performing your best.

Always go for a 5 min run/sprint at least to get the main core muscles active and if you have time continue to warm up other muscle groups as well!

Hope this helps

Warming up is very important as a pulled or torn muscle can set any improvements back by weeks, making all your past effort a waste of time. If you must stretch without warming up try it this way. Very slowly slide into a stretch us a chair to support your weight, don't let all of your weight on whilst you are stretching and only go down to where it is comfortable for about 30 seconds then very slowly rise up out of the stretch. No pain no gain when cold is guaranteed muscle or ligament damage. Preferably warm up 5 minutes warming saves months after a strain, been there and done it I am a Black Tag Tae Kwon do.Warming up by heat eg:- a sauna, does not warm up muscles for work. A car engine in the summer sun still has to warm up. Your muscles and ligament are very much the same.

Yes, you really need to warm up before stretching or else you risk tearing the muscle. In fact, when working out, the warm up is more important than the stretch. The stretch can come during the cool down (which you should also be doing) if you're short on time. Think of your muscle as being a bit like putty. If you try to pull on puddy while it's still cold, it still come right apart. However, if you work it a little bit, getting it warm and squishy, it will hold together longer as you pull on it. Your muscles are the same way. If they're cold, they won't stretch, they'll tear.

It depends what you want to do. I would recommend warming up for static stretches however if you want to make a high kick in a self defence situation you have to be able to do it from cold. You cannot ask an assailant to wait until you warm up before he attacks. Thomas Kurtz a renowned authority on stretching an flexibility absolutely insists that with the right training you can execute your highest kicks from cold. Stretching very day is certainly a way to maintain this readiness but concentrate on dynamic stretches. I am a black belt at shotokan and have very good static flexibility but this does not help my kicking and I am concentrating on Dynamic Stretching to improve this.

Yes its very important to warm up your muscles before stretching in order to prevent any injuries. But if you don't have much time you can always use Dynamic stretching that includes both warm up and stretching at same time ( 6 to 12 min) If you need some Dynamic stretching exercises you can search on internet or contact me and i will send you some pictures !!! sa_ljubavi_moja@hotmail.com

it is recomended that you do warm up a little, a quick walk or a jog, even a bit of skipping. sometimes if you aren't warmed up the slightest over stretch can cause an injury that you will feel and will put you out of training for a couple of days, even a week or two.

There is great chance of doing harm especially cause of those really fancy high kicking techniques in the TKD. You need to get stretched out so that your kicks will get higher, and your reflexes will get faster with those kicks or someone wil beat you to the punch so to speak if you ever get into a situation.

Stretching should be good enough, but it always helps to get the blood sufficiently warmed up. see if you can get to class about 15 to 20 minutes before class to give your self that time to warm up and stretch.

You should give your self at least 5mins to warm up and get the blood flowing. this'll actually help your stretching in a far better way.

there's always a chance for injury, but warming up will lessen the inpact of the injury.

and try to make sure that you give yourself a few minutes after class for a cool down session as well to help you relax.

You increase the chance of injury if you do not warm up & cool down properly with any exercise. I bellydance & you even need to do it for that. You can skip it but if you then injure yourself you will at least know why
