People leaving Christianity, Judaism, or any other religion are free to make their conversion public. While it causes trouble with their families or societies, it's usually respected as a human right and a personal choice. That is everywhere except...Here. There definitely are ex-Muslims out there (how many I don't know and I don't think anyone else does) but the vast majority of us wouldn't dare reveal ourselves, which is why we're just about unheard of. It's dangerous. We can be imprisoned, forced to divorce our Muslim spouses or leave our children, killed, or tortured. Muslims answer any question about ex-Muslims by saying that no one ever leaves Islam, or no one in his right mind leaves Islam, or that death for apostates in Islamic law is a lie when it's very well proven. Even the few ex-Muslims here on Yahoo! Answers are often discredited ("I don't believe you."). It's funny...In a painful kind of way. We're the most endangered people in the world.

And our existence is so commonly denied that it's like we really don't have that right...What do you think? Muslims and non-Muslims are welcome to answer.

Here are some links by ex-Muslims or people who know them on this site.

Isadora, people who leave Christianity and Judaism don't insult their former religions because they have no hard feelings, and they have no hard feelings because they're not to be KILLED and their lives and safety are not in danger. I've never heard of Christian countries murdering people who convert to Islam!

And I have corresponded with the person who wrote the link you sent me, and she IS a real ex-Muslim. You call her a liar, and deny her status as an ex-Muslim - JUST like I said you would in my question.

I don't have that basic right, Linda. Islamic law calls for ex-Muslims to be executed. Remember Abdul Rahman from Afghanistan?

Sen B, I'm sorry, but you really are an idiot. Idiot is the first word that comes to mind when I read your post. READ these fatwas and cut your crap.

Anji, based on everything you know about Islam, and everything Muslims demonstrate in front of you here, you have every right to disrespect Islam.

Rory, read my response to Sen B, since you answered just like her...You're certainly as stupid.

Is it just Saudi Arabia Smiley? Isn't it also Oman, and Yemen, and Kuwait, and Qatar, and the UAE, and Sudan, and Somalia, and Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and Libya, and Mauritania, and Iran? Since when are Muslim countries KNOWN to be part of the "civilized world"? Islam is not a logical belief system, it's FULL of hypocrisy and double standards that you completely ignore. And see, the Ummah is not better off without me, because once I leave Islam officially I will campaign against it in every way I can.

Stow...(1) What I want from Islam is the right to LIVE and the right to be an ex-Muslim, a right I'm denied living in Egypt. (2) Your idiotic response there was predicted in my question - Muslims say that no 'true' Muslim would leave Islam. Me weak? I can smash every Muslim argument here on Answers. I use facts, logic, examples, expert opinions, and I never get an answer. Don't you dare call me weak. I can humiliate your every word.

Isadora I LOOKED at the link posted by I WAS SET FREE that you gave me in your answer, and I TOLD YOU that I HAD PERSONAL COMMUNICATION with the author of that question, and I TOLD YOU THAT I KNOW SHE'S REAL. Why do I have to keep repeating myself? Are you really a medical student with this IQ?!

Dalia Adel, so according to you, if an ex-Muslim shuts up, they're to be left alone, but if they speak against Islam, they're to be killed. Why shouldn't Cat Stevens, or Italy's ambassador to Libya, or Germany's ambassador to Morocco then be executed for speaking against Christianity and trying to spread a foreign faith in Europe? Listen to your logic!

God Is True - "A Muslim cant make an idea to become ex. I know you are lying. You know why I said this, because a rich man dislike to become poor.but only poor man like to become rich. Islam is like a rich religion. It have some rich qualities which other religion don’t have."

Will you LISTEN to this guy?

Isadora, where did I WAS SET FREE say that anal sex is allowed in Islam? In the link you sent me, she said that Muhammad legalized prostitution by allowing men to have four wives/allowing them to have sex with their slave girls, both claims of which are true. If you want proof that sex with slave girls is allowed in Islam, I'll give you a fatwa too.
Idiot? Liar? Freak? IQ of negative 30? Thank you, Muslimah, your language shows me how civilized you are. Wow, you've really debunked me and proven the beauty of Al Islaam! I couldn't be more wrong, and you couldn't be more right! I've got to run, I'm gonna convert! lol
I'm not going to stoop down to your standard by calling you names. You've just proven me right.

Wrong, Keyu, "going on with my life" is not an option here in Egypt. AS I said, ex-Muslims are persecuted to no end.

Isadora the link you sent me goes nowhere, since the question's been deleted. Where is this imaginary "proof of my lies" that you gave to "comfort" me? Isn't it a little stupid to brag and insult so much about something you send, which turns out not to work? I have a high standard because I base my arguments on facts and standards, and yes, I've been very patient with you because I haven't called you some of the things I really wanted to call you when you keep blasting me with your kindergarten insults, in English and in Arabic. You disgust me.

Well, we exist, and we should not give up.. whether they recognize us or not. we are here. it is dangerous, but they cannot eliminate us. just like they could not destroy Israel. and they will never be able to. because they always refuse the truth. they always keep rejecting the negatives in Islam which is growing more negatives than any positives. we need to keep in touch to each other as ex-muslims and publicize our cases to the world to see the danger that current islam possess to the world.

Islam lose everyday by reciting to violence and hatred. and that's a good news to the world to get rid of this cult not a religion.

Wow... I looked at one of those pages from the Muslim Q & A site and saw them casually telling an atheist (who is about the least likely to be impressed!) that they do indeed execute people who reject Islam - I wasn't comforted much by the small point that they don't execute them if they're a minor. I really feel for the suffering you've been through. I've been an atheist a great many years but I always knew it would be harder to challenge beliefs in a different political and religious climate and all but impossible in yours.

I think the best way to undermine Islam is to improve education in the middle east and trigger some movement that gives women more rights.

It is absolutely unbelievable that Muslims think that no-one will leave Islam. I guess that's what happens when you are in a cult, even if it is a billion-strong. Either they don't know what "free will" means or they are living in denial (more likely). Once you remove the blinders and understand the true nature of Mohammad, you will be disgusted enough to want to leave. But not likely if you have been chanting his name 5 times a day with allah. Then you are more likely similar to a waking zombie in a Stalinist state like N. Korea who hears nothing but the praises of Kim Jong Il.
As a human being, God gives you every right to exist. It is only man who takes away those rights from a fellow man. It is inhuman and evil to say the least to do this to a fellow man. God will provide the punishment to these evil-doers who vilify His name in His own good time, if they do not repent of their murderous intentions which are from the revelations of Satan to Mohammad, not God, in order to vilify God.

Where in the world do you live? Yes, the Saudi government may put an "ex-Muslim" to death, but its pretty safe everywhere in the civilized world.

The reason Muslims do not believe you when you broadcast that you are an "ex-Muslim" is because Islam is a very logical belief system, and discarding logic is very difficult - you can't unlearn what you knew before. But if you never knew, and were a Muslim in name only, sure, you can change to another (or no) religion, and the ummah is better off without you. Best wishes to you.

Well, I'm not a muslim but I always thought of muslims as dangerous but very religious people since there is Daily Prayer and Pilgrimage to Mecca (the Hajj). The five pillars of Islam in general. I think you need to pray to God. I'm christian and things have been working well for me. And yes, everyone has the right to exist. That is why God created us all. But I guess people don't realize that all religions lead to one true center. No matter how far apart they are. If your family truely loves you, then you should talk to them.

I am not Muslim, but what you have described is only one of the reasons that I have a really hard time respecting Islam. The proof is out there that what you say is true if people want to take the time to research it and open their minds to this serious problem. You have alluded to not living in the U.S., and I don't know how people who leave Islam here in the U.S. are treated by their families, but I do know that it is life threatening to let it be known you left, or are leaving Islam in the Middle East.
Please know that there ARE people around the world who understand, and are concerned about your plight.

You are human beings as much as we are. It is not us - human beings - who decide who should exist and who shouldn't. Only Allah does.

One thing about reverting from Islam that not many people know is that it is not true that ex-muslims should be killed. This is the case if you - as an ex-muslim - form a threat to Islam (i.e. a group of ex-muslims fight Islam or threat muslims, edclare war, etc as was similar in Harb Ar-redda - reverting war - after the death of prophet Mumahmma). However, as individuals, you are free to make your own choices and be held accountable for them. Muslims should respect your choices and deal with you as a free human being just as you deal with us.

When you make the choice to revert from Islam, this does not give me the right to disrespect you or undermine your choice as much as it does not give you the right to make fun of Islam or disrespect my choice.

Cool?

Peace

Christians and Jews do speak out against their religion once they have left the faith, look at all the atheists.

2007-01-14 01:26:36 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 2 1

You deserve the right to live but from what you state, that right is denied to you by Islamic law. They say Mohammed preached peace until he got an army. Please continue to speak out so people understand the truth about Islam so others can be helped. For example, Islam will always say they are telling the truth but I understand that there are 5 reasons that they believe it's ok to lie? (One of them is to advance Islam?)

Maybe ask questions on Yahoo that will cause them to question how they are misguided?
