Ginger is 11 years old, she has artheritis, and just found out she has lyme disease, tonight she had a seizure at times she falls and we have to pick her up, shes on meds but doesnt seem to be helping, she is throwing up, urinating, and at times wont eat. Should i consider puting her to sleep? I know she is in pain just by looking at her.

I had a golden like that. The best thing to do to not let it suffer anymore.

This ia a very difficult choice. Homeopathic may help, but how long do you wait for results and how can you watch the suffering. Pets are a part of the family and it really hurts to put them down. I recently put down a great dane after 11 years of love and friendship, loyality, etc. and before that, a sheepdog after 17 years! You know your pet best. Let your conscience be your guide. God bless. You'll just know what to do and when. If you put the dog down, you'll know they are no longer suffering. Condolences to you and yours when the dog does move on to a better place.

SO sorry to hear your best friend is going through the lyme diease symptoms. Sounds like the treatment they are providing is not working for your dog. I would definitly try the homeopathic route ASAP. Give it a chance that way you will know you have tried something else besides tradtional procedures. It works for people ,why not? Good Luck to you and god bless Ginger

She is obviously in a lot of pain. I would have her put down. The vet will give you the option of watching or not, they shave the leg usually and give her a simple injection. It doesn't take long and it is relatively painless and peaceful. You can have a vet come in and do it or in the surgery, the vet will give you the option of taking your pet home or having it cremated.

I am very sorry for your loss, it is always painful to see one of your best friends go, but she is a lot of pain and I hope you can see that you could give her a peaceful ending, instead of a painful drawn out life.

I would contact a homeopathic vet before i did ANYTHING. She does sound as if she is suffering. Sometimes homeopathics can give a simple inexpensive remedy that cures things that traditional vets don't have a clue about. (This is from experience.) I have a 15 year old shih-tzu mix that would have died 2 years ago if not for homeopath.

sorry to say but if she is in alot of pain the best thing to do is to put her to sleep. i don't think you'd want to watch her suffer for the rest of her life. it would be easier for the both of you.

i am so sorry to hear this.i know how hard it can be to have to put an animal down. i hope you make the best decision in the long run. i wish you the best of luck and again i'm so sorry.

Oh, I hate to say it, but you are right.. It sounds like she's suffering terribly. It probably hurts you as well to see her that way. Dogs have dignity. You should put her to sleep before she gets even worse.

Take her to the vet and get their advice and if there isn't anything they can do then it's probably for the best.

THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS FOR PET OWNERS TO DECIDE AS THEY ARE OUR FAMILY. THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER IS THE FACT THAT YOU ARE KEEPING YOUR PET ALIVE FOR YOU AND NOT FOR THE GOOD OF THE ANIMAL.
