Onions have the same properties as Garlic but in lesser amounts.

They contain antioxidants as well as vitamins and minerals and antiseptic qualities.

They are know to aid in the cleansing of impurities in the blood, though to what extent I'm not too certain.

I actually heard last night if you have like breathing problems or some kind of sickness in your body you take and put a bandage with onions cut up on it and tap it on your back near the pain and change the bandage with new onions every 8 hours. I guess at first they will be black when you take it off then when the onion looks like when you first put it there you are healed

The sweetness of wine mixed with the sweetness of an onion combine a unique flavor, accompanying each other nicely. Usually you will find the onions and wine cooked together with Chicken.

Again, it all depends on the type of wine you use that makes the flavor "unique."

But, it is VERY good.

As for onions being good for you,

In addition, onion extracts are recognized by WHO for providing relief in the treatment of coughs and colds, asthma and bronchitis. Onions are known to decrease bronchial spasms. My grandmother use to use onions and sugar to make a cough syrup. She use to put it on a wood stove and let it sit there until the sugar melted and the onions were soft. Then she would take the onions out and then there was the syrup.

Onions have a variety of medicinal effects. Early American settlers used wild onions to treat colds, coughs, and asthma, and to repel insects. In Chinese medicine, onions have been used to treat angina, coughs, bacterial infections, and breathing problems.

Onions are a very rich source of fructo-oligosaccharides. These oligomers stimulate the growth of healthy bifidobacteria and suppress the growth of potentially harmful bacteria in the colon. In addition, they can reduce the risk of tumors developing in the colon.
