Poodle,or a German Sherpard because they are smart enough to understand. They can be trained to help also.
Labs are good but they are very over breed, and they are just to hyper. I know that labs are used as seeing eye dogs and stuff. But the Poodle is a better dog.
I have Schnauzer right now, but he is puppy so I can't tell you with good faith that its a good dog.

Then, having determined which breed to get, i search for a good living house canines practise direction. I actual have seen some classes there yet come to end that i want a good elements that i visit write all the way down to the canines operating shoes at any time for suggestion. i'm satisfied i stumbled on the area less than (you should get it, truly). to date so good and that i educated my domestic dog with it each day. I have had tons of different breeds of dogs and the only breed I totally fell in love with is the Labrador Retriever. They are the most affectionate, loving, devoted, intelligent , versatile and friendliest outgoing dog. The one thing that amazed me the most is their ability to sense the needs and the emotions of people. They are the number one service and it is not hard to see why. My Lab is energetic but when he gets around the sick or the elderly he just calms down and gives them gentle love and attention. I have been amazed how they just sense things and without training know how to act. The English Style Labs are calmer and not as tall as the American. The American are the ones used in filed trials, they are the smae dog but different appearance. The English make better pets because they are calmer and do not necessarily coming froma strong hunting line.

Golden's and labs are wonderful but sometimes are a little to exuberant, and can knock smaller children down, now some are calm & great but alot are wideopen, a lady I know has a handicapped child & her son has a pug, great loving little dog, who sits in the wheelchair with her son, sleeps right beside him & is just a great size. But poodles, maltese, yorkies are also great if you want a small dog.

Get an adult dog from the shelter that has already proven it's temperment. Even purebreds bred to have certain traits can have huge varriations, so there is no way to tell you what breed would work best.
