and do smaller dogs need less or more?

by the way im not worred, im just woundering if anyone knows the avradge hours a dog sleeps for.

Let them sleep at night and that should be it.

My dogs sleep a lot in the day and a lot of the night -- this is normal, animals sleep (or at least lie down to rest) to conserve energy. In the wild where they would have to hunt for food, they would only be very active when scavenging or hunting. This is simulated by going for walks or off-leash runs -- when they are VERY active! Or barking at something they see as an intruder. But once the activity is over, it's back to sleep! The size of the dog does not seem to make any difference.

Dogs, small or large, sleep the majority of the day. As far as exact hours, that would be difficult to define but suffice to say they do sleep a lot. That's just how it is with dogs.

Well my puppy sleeps about 3-5 hours DURING THE DAY. It all depends on how tired the dog is in my opinion. Remember that all dogs are different. Glad i could help !!!

It all depends upon their age. Smaller/larger all the same.
all dogs sleep when there is nothing else to do. That's just what they do. not to worry. So most dogs sleep a lot.

I don't think it depends on the size of the dog so much as the age and well-being. Having said that, they seem to like sleeping quite a bit - mine spend probably half the day snoozing! :)

As much as they want. :) Puppies will play for an hour or two, and then fall asleep a moment later for much the same time, sometimes more!
Trust me, they definitely wont stay awake if they don't want to. One thing I can't control about my puppy is her need to fall asleep! And vice versa - if she wants to stay awake and play, then nothing will make her sleep.

dogs sleep all day so dont worry they go in and out of sleep for much poration of the day but they are an animal so they will wake up for anything because in is their instinct

Depends what's going on. If there's nothing going on, they'll go to sleep - they can't read a book, watch TV or waste time on the computer!
