are there any websites that teach languages such as french, spanish and other european languages for free? any books recommended for beginners as well???

There are tons of sites with free material to learn. But.. as you talk about languageS, I think a good start is visiting http://www.phrasebase.com .

There's a really good site from Radio Deutsche Welle that teaches German.

It's a site with High Quality MP3 recordings and PDF documents of written work to learn the written language. There are several levels from Beginner to Professional. The courses are far from boring, being based around a cute story about a man who's constant companion is an invisible imp. And best of all, it's free.

I'm not sure if there are any websites that teach it for free, but you can get language software from the Walmart website for only about 30 dollars and I know they have French and Spanish and German. I think they even have Hawaiian, lol.

BYKI ( http://www.byki.com ) is a good page, but only teach a few words...
I have differents pages to learn languages, but they are in spanish... sorry!!
try to search in google os something like that!
