the biggest reason is that it is a distraction, we fill our lives with them, house work, lookin after the kids goin to the gym goin out for dinner, we fill our lives up so we never have to stop and face our fears, inadequacies worries, or anything, we fill up or days so we crawl into bad and fall asleep and never have to actually think about whether we like ourselves or our lives etc.
these kids are generally emotionally stagnant as they dont kno how to deal with and live with the pressures of adult life, it is how a child would behave if they had free reign with alcohol, dont you think? these people who drink that much are not happy content people who feel comfortable with their life and where it is goin, they are very orten angry lost and feel very alone in this cold hard world, hense getting out of you face is an eaisly acheviable goal, something they dont have to work to hard at or wait to long to acheive, like a real goal is, they just get up and go to work until the weekend then get pissed and go back to work and talk about their weekend. they often have no long term goals as they arent happy people. the dont want to look forward or back which alcohol makes much eaiser, but the biggest attraction for these addicts is that the drink is socially acceptable, they cant openly take any other drug but they also dont see alcohol as a drug so they think they are fine, and so the downward spiral continues. sorry for the ramble, my cousin used to do it every week end for approx 5 years, he doesnt do it so much any more but he is still the same angry confused person looking for distractions, he drives a fast car noe and distracts himself by modifying it, spends the weekends getting parts chosing new ones etc. but it is still a distraction, i just feel strongly about this so u opened the flood gates a bit i'm afraid, so again sorry for the ramble thru my thoughts, i just typed as they came, it is prob incohearent,
:)

Brits are the biggest binge drinkers in Europe, true but they all do it for different reasons. Some are just plain silly and they do it because they think it's "fun", some just see it as part of the "socializing" scene (which would be people like myself - you might think it's stupid fair enough hey each to his own), some don't even know why they do it, some do it to escape reality, etc.
Pubs have always been apart of English Culture and you can look at it in many ways, whether it good or bad. As I live in a student town in da UK I always hear people say that they've been doing so well that they haven't had a drink in 4days. To me that sounds pretty ordinary, because everyone does it here and it's so common most of the time you don't feel like there's anything wrong. Although if I went back to my home country and heard someone saying that, that would be bizarre and I would immediately think "Alcoholic!". Different communities, different point of views I guess.

ya i'm gonna ought to flow with the forbidden fruit attitude. My dad owned a bar when I grew up and that i hardly drink in any respect. provide the adolescents a pitcher of wine from time to time and that i imagine there should be a lot less alcoholics. yet peer pressure is likewise yet another important reason, they're going to get less than the impact of alcohol regardless of in the journey that they don't truly want to drink that a lot in simple terms to slot in.

its ok to like tea or coffie instead of a pint, but each to there own my dad dont drink and says he cant stand it when we r all out together and he sits there watching everone getting more drunk buy the min and start makeing fools out of ourselfs, but if you dont drink and know for a fact that everyone else does, then surly u would no that going into a pub with them for a night out is going to end up in a drunken party.im not saying that its bad to not drink and the attraction to alcohol is purely to have a good time with other people that drink,it make u laugh more,it gives u dutch courage,it gives u confidence, even though u r bad the next day and have made a compleate fool out of yourself at the time its funny, whats the harm as long as u r not stupid with it or think u can fight the world,if u pefer a cuppa then great, but i enjoy both.
lol.

I like a couple of glasses of wine with a nice dinner, but after that it is a major hang over and I am a puke-a-holic so I don't drink to get drunk I also don't like the feeling of being out of control.

The attraction is that alcohol makes people feel like the person that they wish they were instead of the person they really are.

I know, really. I'm pretty much drinking Mountain Dew and chocolate milk for the rest of my life. What's so wrong with that? Mountain Dew tastes better anyway.

AMEN 2 that!
I agree.
alcohol is a drug like any other & should b sold with a huge health-warning.
when the NHS gets left with the bill 4 their selfish/self-destructive behaviour, the sh!t will really hit the fan.
if i could do it i'd bar any of my taxes going on bailing them out!

i think most people went out for a drink is because they have some 'private matters they can't settle theirselves'.They drink and trying to forget about it and to relax for a few hours.Or maybe they just do it for fun.
