I know what you mean. I usually just tell people not to keep your eye on me, but keep your eye on Jesus. I'm flawed, Jesus is perfect. Jesus said he was the truth. Seek the truth, the truth will set you free. When they keep their eye on you, they are not seeking the truth, but looking for the lie. I remind them that I am still a flawed person, and will not be perfect till I'm with Him in heaven.

hi,
I remember asking this question when I was a teen. But sunday school teacher told me something in which I believe is true.
Deep down in their hearts, when they look into their own holy people, or religious people, they know that their lives is not upright, and their teaching does not place importance on moral and ethic. They too, can see that the holy people are not doing as they preach.
I have noticed this in Chinese religion of Taoist and Indian Hindu religion. those who are suppose to be the media of their gods behave badly during normal lives.
And deep down in their hearts they know the standard of Jesus teaching, and understand that Christian suppose to be holy. Thus when we make mistake, they all point finger.
Which Wicca, when they did wong, people will point finger? Which other practictional have this treatment as Christian? Not just pastor, but all christian.
So, when they point at you, remember what jesus said, when the world hates us, they actually hate Jesus.
Pal, press on, and look up.
You are not the only one.

i think part of the answer is that the church and its members have contributed to this by adopting the high moral ground and judging the world and its behaviour. we have been critical and not that that's always bad but we have not emphasised God's grace and acceptance- we've not demonstrated it- the 'gay' issue is one such example. one man raged against them (no acceptance or love) and then was found guilty of the same! how do you expect people to respond?
we need to show and be loving and accepting of all, and maybe keep our mouths shut when it comes to judging, cos that is what i think people are reacting against.

You are so right!
Christians are still human - but we have made the decision to trust/believe in Christ for the forgiveness of our sins.
We will fall down - and God is there to pick us up and keep pointing us in the right direction.
Only a believer truly understands this....because God has given us that wisdon.

Thus the saying: Not perfect, just forgiven. Don't worry you don't have to be perfect, just try your best and love God, and ask for His forgiveness and guidance daily. I know, I know it's annoying when someone says things like, "and he claims to be a Christian." The only thing a statement like that reveals, is that the person who says it does not know the greatness of God.

That is because people expect us to be perfect... it shows how great the teachings of our Lord are....
... we must try our best and not be in distress because of the criticism... somes comes out of love others in mockety... both cases we live as we know he wanted us to be....
... when we sin we get up again and move forward.

We are only humans and we are doomed to fail because we are not God. Thank God he sent his son Jesus to save us and to forgive us and give us hope and grace.

"Judge not, lest ye be judged." And Christians do an awful lot of judging.
