So i heard in the USA that if you're under 18 there is a curfew which means you have to be home before a certain time? Is this true and what are the consequences for being caught after curfew?

These matters are handled at the local level, most commonly with the city. Age, time, consequences are all depending on where you live. Usually, there will also be exceptions to those ordinances.

Example: The town a grew up in had one for 11pm on weeknights, and 1am on weekends. I played football, and there were times when we would not get back from games until very late, and then you had to get home once you got back to the school.

Also, many cities will "turn a blind eye" on weekends where prom's take place given the tradition that kids will have permission to stay out later than normal. While the PD will be watching for DUI's and the such, they will generally not go after kids who are just out late.

I know some teens are almost adults, but what is there really for them to do in the wee hours of the morning? I teen is 60% more likely to get into some sort of trouble after midnight, as apposed to before midnight. Generally there is nothing to do after midnight, they get bored, and they get into something.

Maybe in some of the city's but it is news to me. Sounds like a good idea though. Martial law after dark. That would take care of a lot of trespassing problems. lol.

Yes.

Sometimes I wish they would raise that age to 30 after seeing how some people behave!

you've heard right, most cities (mainly smaller municipalities) have 11pm or 12am (weekends) curfews to curb violence, drug shenanigans, etc. most violations are dealt w/parent notification, ciations, court appearances, or visits to detention centers
