Wow, there are sure a lot of cynical people on Yahoo answering this question.
Will he be a platoon leader in Iraq? I doubt it. However, his uncle, Prince Andrew, DID see wartime military service as a helocopter pilot during the Falkland Islands War. There are other ways to service your country that do NOT involve picking up a rifle and walking patrol.
Next you are going to tell me that I really didn't serve for 9 years in the USAF because working electronic warfare gear on A-10s doesn't count.

He might be training, but I doubt very much if he will go.
Why would anyone in their right mind want to enlist tday? they will be immeidately sent out to iraq or Afghanistan where chances are they will be either injured physically or mentally, or even worse be sent home in a body bag or coffin.
The men who are sending soldiers to war have children who will never have to risk their lives on the battlefields so as to top up the profits of the greedy few in the oil and arms trade and politics.
Far too many are dying and have died, and for what? a pointless illegal war based on lies. There never were any WMD's, Iraq is in chaos, in a state of civil war, with more and more dying each day. yet neither Bush nor Blair have had the decency to apologise to any of their families or to admit the war was based on lies in the first place.
So I doubt if Harry will ever see Basra, I doubt if he ever expressed a wish to go there. It just makes great headlines in a Murdoch tabloid rag. It's a great distraction from the paparazzi shots of him falling out of night clubs pissed and taking a swipe at phtographers or snogging some mindless bimbo in a bar.
if you believe the tabloid scripts or Buckingham Palace pr hype, more fool you. It does make good pr for playboy Harry's image though.

He joined the military did not he? Do you anticipate him to have a symbolic enlistment or ought to you truly it meant something to him? it should be insulting to his unit to carry them out of threat because of the Prince (now to not indicate the insult to the Prince). i'm confident he'd truly not go via existence with the attractiveness of being a toy soldier. sure, it should be tremendous PR for al-Qaida in the journey that they could grab him, yet in simple terms how probable do you imagine it truly is? And in the journey that they by some skill managed to seize him, do you imagine the British military will in simple terms sit down there and wring their fingers? the vast majority of British troops serve their time in Iraq and are available living house in simple terms high-quality. The Prince's excursion will be no diverse (except for the publicity).

Candidates for the white feather?
The royal family should be abolished, then there would be none of this pr nonsense.
Teenagers are a lot braver than "the princes" just by living day to day in the sink estates of britain.
They needed no training either.

I doubt very much that Prince Harry would ever be put in a dangerous situation - he can train all he wants, it's not going to do him harm.
Why on earth should people kill other people, or put themselves in a position to be killed? Just to stop other people call them cowards? I wouldn't fight unless my life depended on it.
And I come from a long line of soldiers, policemen, naval men. I was married to a soldier, my son is a soldier. I've seen how totally screwed up their brains are. It's not something you take as a lifestyle. I respect the decision of those who do it, but I wouldn't give anyone a white feather.

Mass joining up to die pointlessly for a war that doesn't matter, over principles that no longer apply, because of information that was at BEST twisted and misleading and furthermore a war which is unwinnable - that happened between 1914 and 1918. No longer. If you're such a fan of the war then YOU join - and if you're too old then raise money ceaselessly to buy our troops some equipment that doesn't fall apart when it gets wet/sand in it/cold/hot.

I'd rather they smoke pot and sing "Give Peace a Chance" in bed with their PJs.
WTFs a white feather?
Diana would roll over in her grave knowing they were thinking of sending Harry off to war.

Yeah, if you fall for the propaganda!
Would they be stupid enough to follow him over the edge of a cliff?
If you're educated you don't have to serve on the front line, if you're not then you're just cannon fodder!
The lower down the food chain you are the more expendable you are.
They teach team work, but the pay structure indicates otherwise.
The most important component in the army is the front line solider, but it is the worst paid... How dumb is that?
The further you are away from the trouble the better the pay.. Now that's what I call a good deal.. Not!
And that is reality, the truth... Anybody who is in denial of the truth is ignorant!
A man who follows another man lives is ignorance!

I'm sure if he takes the lead others will follow!!!
I think this is the idea... When someone in " The Firm " does something it suddenly becomes cool!!! But Harry will never be on the front line... He was stopped from going to Afganistan as it was seen to be too volatile!!!
