I recently got married and my maiden name was Julien V. Ramos. My husband's last name is Spencer. So now is my new name "Julien V. Spencer" or "Julien R. Spencer"??

I know it sounds like a silly question, but everyone I've asked so far doesn't know either.

Do I keep my middle initial or does my maiden last name become my middle initial??

Help! I'm confused!

Traditionally your maiden name becomes your middle name: Julien R. Spencer. (That's what my mom did, anyways.) You could always do the hyphenation thing if you wanted: Julien V. Ramos-Spencer.

It should be Julien Ramos Spencer or Julien R. Spencer

But if you want to retain your maiden name you can do it:
Example

Miriam Palma Defensor is married to Dionisio santiago

So she can write his full name as

Miriam P. Defensor-Santiago

so your name is Julien V. Ramos-Spencer

Other variation (usually in Spanish) Julien V. Spencer y Ramos (not recommend this)

Julien V. Spencer is wrong since the middle name should be your
maiden surname

You keep it. Your name would be Julien V. R. Spencer. It goes first middle maiden last.
It doesn't really matter though you can write your name however you want.

Julien V. Spencer. You only take your husband's last name. It is possible though, to not take his name at all, or to have your last name added to his eg, Julien Ramos-Spencer.Its your choice.

After I married I kept my middle name and never use my maiden name unless asked to do so on some silly form.

I was adopted and never like my maiden name to begin with.
(It was one of those name people made fun of in school and I was happy to get rid of it.)

dont think anyone would agree that youd use the initial of your maiden name but its up to you if you use your/his middle initial, you could be mrs thomas p. spencer if thats his name

You can do either one. I dropped my middle name and use my maiden name as my middle name now. Other people keep their middle name and drop their maiden name. I think it is just your personal preference.
