Does your former unit maintain a web site? That would be a good place to start your research. Do you have a DD-214 or are you still in service? Have you reveiwed your 201 file? If your now discharged check the awards block area of your DD-214 any unit awards should be mentioned in that area.
Unit awards should also be listed in your 201 file.

Good luck, and thanks for your service!

I was in the same situation when I got out. The unit I was deployed in south east asia was reported to have received awards after my EAS. I contacted the unit that maintains military records after you get out, and requested a copy of the page in my record book where awards are documented. Sure enough, three years after my EAS I found out I had two awards I did not know of.

This is common, as it takes some time for units to receive these awards. If you get out of the military soon after a certain operation or exercise, you may not find out. They will tell you that you will be notified if such things occur, but I never was.

If you got out before these awards are awarded, it will not be included on your copy of the DD-214.

all units have a unit history, you need to look at those. usually you can find unti histories on battalion or brigade webpages. i am wondering why you would want to know this though. you can not wear them unless you were awarded them while you were with that unit and if your unit got an award of that caliber while you were serving with them then you def would have known about it.
