Why do the muslim economic emigrants want to escape the islamic countries to seek a better life in the west? Once they've settled in why do they again want the tyrannical shari'a laws to be effective in that country? If they wanted that style of govt. why did they come to infidel lands in the first place? Then they will seek to increase their population to a significant number and want a land carved out just for muslims from the original land! Which means that they cannot and will not live with non-muslims. So why don't they stay in their own countries with muslims only?

Interestingly enough, I asked this same question yesterday.

The answer? They love what the West gives them, but they don't love the West.

Sharee'ah is cultural, NOT Islamic? Sharee'ah is DEFINED as Islamic law!

"Sharia (شريعة translit: Sharī‘ah) is the body of Islamic law. The term means "way" or "path"; it is the legal framework within which public and some private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a legal system based on Muslim principles of jurisprudence."

Yes one out of every ten immigrant you might get a bad apple who wants to take matters into his own hands. They are the ones who should go back to their countries and stay there. Rest assured that person won't get away with it; the United States welcomes people with open arms, yet she does not tolerate them telling her how to run things. The people of the United States won't tolerate it and they are the United States.
Now you come to Saudi Arabia, depending upon the area you live in, the foreign women are constantly being hounded by the religious people to cover, and they aren't even Muslim; that in itself is very bad.
Now to turn the tables I've known a few to come to the states and respect her ways and laws to the full extent. It would be nice if they all were like that.
It says in Islam that you must obey the laws of the land that you live in and if you can't do so, leave. I remember there was a time when the Muslims lived in Assyria and the king, he was Christian I believe and the Muslims did just fine. Why some have to be full of themselves I'll never know. I hope this helped somewhat.

Excellent question you have asked.
U should be awarded at least 1000 points for this question. after long time i read such a beautiful and Debatable question on yahoo.
I fully agree with u. the problem with Muslims immigrant at first beg for visa and when they get immigration they start behaving like and idiots. And want their country’ law on others land. Why don’t they ask Saudi government to allow foreign lady to drive a car or to roam without veil? Why they ask Britain government to enforce their stupid laws on Britain land? The main problem is Muslims are the most confused and hypocrite nation on this world. They are still surrounded by their clergy men. They will start thinking positive when they will be free from their clergy men.
After writing this I fear some terrorist will report this to yahoo. Hope God will save me. Just pray for me.

Your question is in the right direction. I hope that Muslim's follow the rules and customs of the country they are living in and do not try to impose there own laws and if they cannot they should come back to their own countries, nobody in the west stops them from indulging in their religion Islam a good Muslim is one who poses no harm to other human beings

Alright, I will attempt to answer this question as a Middle Easterner and Muslim.

I guess the main reason that Muslims escape their countries is because of the dictatoships that we have in the region and because of poverty. But mainly it is to escape the tyrannical governments that are unfortunately supported by some western countries. Whenever a westen leader uses the word 'moderate Arab states' they are reffering to these countries. Believe me there is nothing moderate about them. It is the usual propoganda and lies. They are dictatorships plain and simple. The reason why these governments are supported by some Western countries is because of their economic interests in the region. As long as their interests are preserved they don't care about 'democracy and human rights'. As soon as their interests are threatened then we hear all the rhetoric about bringing us 'democracy and human rights. By the way, after the Iraqi experiment people do not want democracy in the region anymore. We sort of figure we are better off under our dictatorships then Bush's 'democracy'.

Anyway, the Islamic movements in the Middle East originally started as peaceful resistance movements against the dictatorships and the Israeli aggressions in the region. Unfortunately, the result was more bloodshed by the regional governments. They try to stamp out any dissenssion and often violently. Citizens are just not allowed to disagree with their forms of government. Imagine living in such societies where you are ruled through fear. To cut a long story short, the movements became more radicalized and violent as a result of the murders and torture practiced against them.

With regard to your question about why muslims want 'tyrannical sharia laws to be effective' in their host countries. I have a problem with the way the question is asked. From your question I can tell that you have never read Sharia law because there is nothing tyrannical about them. Sharia law is based on the consensus of the majority. That is the litteral meaning. In other words, democracy! However, the laws can become reflective of the mind set of the society. In other words they can be either very liberal if the society is liberal or they can be very conservative if the society is very conservative.

Unfortunately, I agree with you, we do have some muslims who are very radical but they represent about 3% of the muslim world. It is unfortunate that the media concentrates on these people and ignores 97% of the muslim world. It is a real shame that people generalize like this without a real understanding of the sufferings of the people of the Middle East. I am not aware that any western country has changed their laws because of the Muslims who immigrated there but I don't live in the West and perhaps have limited information in this area.

Another way of asking the question is, when will some of the western countries stop supporting these dictatorships so that the people of the Middle East can finally choose the governments that they want? Besides I do not like the term 'infidel' it is very vulgar. Arab Christians and Jews have lived amongst us for centuries and we never called them 'infidels', again you are using the rhetoric of a few to describe and label us all as narrow minded.

The part about us trying to colonize land that doesn't belong to us is so prepostrous that I have to laugh. In recent history, we are the ones that have been colonized not the west. They have been doing all the colonizing since their industrialization so I am really stunned by your remark. It is truly a warped way of looking at things. Our people immigrate for the same reasons that Africans, Indians, Chinese, Latin Americans, etc. immigrate. Why the diffrentiation? When people come to the Gulf countries to live better lives we welcome them. We believe it adds diversity and enriches our culture. People love living in Dubai and Doha for instance because of the diversity. We certainly do not view certain people with racism or prejudice. I mean after the Iraqi war you would expect Americans and British to be treated horribly but take a trip to Dubai and you will see that the majority of the western expatriates are British and American and they love it.

It is just not true that we cannot live with non muslims, we have been living with non muslims for centuries, unfortunately the west has had to really live with muslims for the first time and look at their reaction! They just can't accept it. They fear us as if we have the plague and they are constantly trying to get rid of us. But I will not generalize, not all westerners are so narrow minded and want to draw lines between human beings. It is mostly the work of governments. I mean take a look at the US now trying to build a wall between itself and Mexico. Please excuse me but I really think that is pathetic. A real shame too. We do not believe in dividing the world into a world for the rich and a world for the poor. The North and the South. Masters and labourors! I am sorry but that just isn't humane!

I hope I have given you an even picture at least a chance to hear the other side. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to explain and now I can get my 2 points. :)

Salaam Alikum,

This is a good question and I will try to answer ur question. First, i want to tell u that Islamic government doesn't follow Islamic Shari'a because if they followed it as it is, nobody would immigrate coz Islamic law is the best low, it orders Muslims to give zaka and charity, and if all Muslims do this, no poor person will exist in this planet, really no one be poor anymore but our stupid governments don't follow Shari'a so when people immigrate they try to apply it in the place they immigrated to.

peace.

Really, only Middle Easterners can answer this.

From the biographies that I've read, it has less to do with economics and more to do with radical elements moving into the cities and turning them in to oppressive and fearful societies.

Many of us don't realize how badly moderate Muslims in the Middle East are terrorized by radical groups.

You judge all by other countries. Last time I checked, there were many many muslims in the US and not once have I heard of any trying the shariah thing. I'm a muslim woman. I'm glad they don't use shariah because shariah is based on cultural practices, NOT Islam.
