How conveniently you outright lie. There is no way you are an ex muslim. If this was true, you would know not to tell such lies. Here is THAT verse PLUS the very next verse in context. Now the readers can see the entire story.
[005:116] Allah will say (on the Day of Judgment), “Oh Jesus, son of Mary! Did you ever instruct people, “Worship me and my mother as two other gods along with Allah”? Jesus will answer, “Exalted are You! It is not my place to say anything I have no right (to say). Had I said that, You would have already known it. You know what is in my mind, while I do not know what is in Your mind. Indeed, You have (absolute) knowledge about (absolutely) everything hidden and unseen.”
[005:117] “I said to them only (and exactly) what You had commanded me to say, ‘Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.’ I bore witness to what they did as long as I was among them. But, after You recalled me, You _ (and not me) _ were the Watcher over them. For, You are the Witness to every single thing!”
[005:118] “If You punish them, then they are of course Your servants. And if You forgive them, You are the Almighty, and the Wisest!”
[005:119] Allah will say, “This day, the truthful shall receive the benefit of their truthfulness. Theirs shall be the paradise through which run the rivers. They shall live there forever. Allah is well pleased with them, and they are well pleased with Him. That is the greatest triumph.”
[005:120] To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and everything therein. He has (absolute) power over all things!

Look, everyone has all sorts of opinions on the topic of who Jesus was. He is probably the most controversial figure in history. Personally, I think that's because there was something out of the ordinary about him. He couldn't have been an ordinary human being.
As for that verse in the koran, I don't know the answer. I think a muslim gave a good answer in another reply. If you need further clarification, contact a muslim teacher. The phone book might be of help.
As for who Jesus is, then all I can suggest is that you seek God with a sincere, penitent and humble heart, and ask him to make it clear to you.

That verse condemns the practice, common in some forms of Middle Eastern Christianity, of calling Mary and Jesus gods or God. How can you take a verse from the Qur'an which denies that Jesus is God and claim that it says He is? I suggest that you re-read it and find out its obvious meaning.
The Qur'an and the New Testament both deny the idea that anyone can be or become God.

Why not read the COMPLETE verse, Ms. Foolish?
5:116:"And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah'?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden."
See???? Allah will ask Jesus (peace be upon him) in front of everyone on Judgment Day if Jesus (pbuh) really did tell people to worship him or that he was God! And Jesus will reply, "No! Glory to You! You would've indeed known it if I had told them to worship me...."
NOWHERE in the Quran will you read that ANY of the Prophets whom Allah sent were told to claim that they were/are God!!!
You must be feeling very humiliated, right?.... The humiliation of this world is NOTHING compared to the humiliation of the Judgment Day when you'll be humiliated in front of human A to human Z (that is, ALLLLL humans of ALLL times since the beginning of history). So I sincerely pray that God have mercy on you and forgive you and NOT humiliate you, in this world or in the next.
Peace be upon you!

meaning miracles are given from God. Judaism is a similar way. In Judaism God provides miracles to Jews and non-Jews (historic Egypt-Exodus). it is like asserting all comes from God and the prophets carry out miracles because of the fact of God.

The Quran doesn't prove it, nor does the Holy Bible prove it. Verses in a book is not proof. Jesus was the Son of God, he was not God.

The Quran can't prove that Jesus is God, it can only acknowledge or not acknowledge.
