Okay i have the best child anyone could ask for! Hes talented, well behaved, smart and cute!!! But hes in school now and i just started noticing that he comes home whinny sometimes. I kind of shrugged it off at first but its not changing. I dont know if its the school or just his age? Its not THAT big of deal, but i was just wondering if any parents have noticed the same thing with their 4 year olds and 5 year olds. The other day we were coloring a picture and he went outside the lines and got sooo upset about it! I tried to explain to him that its okay and i thought he did a great job but he was so upset!!!

*hugs* everyone gets whiny sometimes. He may just need some decompression time when coming home from school. Just give him the love you can, and let him know that things don't have to be perfect all the time. If possible, let him start over on a new picture (printing your coloring pages out on a printer would help with this). That way he can give it another chance.

He may be reacting to dealing with peers for the first time. And kids can be really critical! (-: He may start critiquing your performance next! He'll work through it, though, as long as there isn't any real bullying involved.

I work at a preschool and my class is 3 and 4 years old- seriously, some kids are just emotional. Young perfectionists, and they get their feelings hurt easily. It'll get better.

I have a close to 4 year old and she gets whiny when she is tired. A nap usually extinguishes this.

i think its the age. its also the age when a child wants to make something perfect but cannot because his hands are still not that perfect in holding pens, colors..
