He is a retired Marine Colonel.

He quit being a Marine the day he entered politics.

Now he's a politician, and you can tell by the way he has no problem undermining the Marines and other services. He no longer has the right to claim status as a veteran.

You can believe that "Semper fi" stuff all you want. In my book, the moment you drop the values of your group, you're no longer one of them.

John Murtha is a war hero by any reasonably intelligent person's standards.

Murtha disagrees with Bush/Rove and that makes him a coward to Bush's foaming at the mouth fan boys.

He's a good man tired of visiting burials and talking to amputees and blind troops in VA hospitals, but that having been said, his belief that we should "cut and run" now and leave those who helped us, and tried to help themselves, for the slaughter as we did in Vietnam (something he, as a Vietnam vet should appreciate) is a bad idea.

Also, I would ask Mr. Murtha just how he would explain to the parents of the dead soldiers and marines he has seen why their kids died for nothing if we cut and ran.

In 1959, Murtha, then a captain, took command of the 34th Special Infantry Company, Marine Corps Reserves, in Johnstown. He remained in the Reserves after his discharge from active duty until he volunteered for service in the Vietnam War, serving from 1966 to 1967, serving as a battalion staff officer (S-2 Intelligence Section), receiving the Bronze Star with Valor device, two Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He retired from the Reserves as a colonel in 1990, receiving the Navy Distinguished Service Medal"

Because you don't agree with him you are like the rest, you love to besmearch anyone who says something you disagree with!

With regards to Haditha, Murtha was right and you would have liked to cover it up!

Four Marine Corps enlisted men have been charged with murder and four officers with dereliction of duty in the killing of 24 Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha. Convictions could bring sentences ranging from six months to life in prison. How this process unfolds is important both as a matter of justice and as a demonstration that the U.S. military can judge accused criminals without regard to their nationality or that of their victims.

The allegations in the case are stark: While on patrol in the Euphrates Valley northwest of Baghdad on Nov. 19, 2005, members of Company K, Third Battalion, First Marine Regiment, encountered several unarmed Iraqi men. Details about the exact sequence of events are not clear, but in the end, the Marines had killed 24 people, including six children, in several attacks on a car and three nearby houses. Hours earlier, a fellow Marine had been killed by a roadside bomb in an area of heavy Sunni insurgent activity.

Legal experts say the gravity of the charges bespeaks an unusually aggressive approach by prosecutors. Gary Solis, who teaches the law of war at Georgetown University and at West Point, said, "The Marine Corps is sending a message to commanders ... that they better pay close attention to the activities of their subordinates."

only because someone is a "conflict hero" does no longer advise you won't be able to undesirable mouth him. seem at Duke Randy Cunningham, now in reformatory. do we no longer say some thing undesirable about him? he's by using a ways an more advantageous conflict hero than Kerry. Cunningham grow to be the first fighter ace of the Vietnam conflict. He grow to be the first missile ace ever. He grow to be shot down and rescued. He shot down the #a million North Vietnamese ace. And he's a criminal. only because someone is a conflict hero does no longer advise you won't be able to communicate undesirable about them.. And by using the way, KERRY abandoned his placed up and were given a medal for it. must be astounding to be an in intensity own pal to Teddy even as in the military.
