try using sensodyne toothpaste, it tastes nasty but after 2 weeks your tooth won't be so sensitive. also try to rinse with luke warm water and try not to eat anything hot or cold (after awhile your tooth could develop sensitivity to both hot and cold-that's what mine do). also, the sensitivity could be due to your having it filled, when i got my braces of my teeth hurt like crazy for about a month just form being so sensitive. it will wear off after a while, but the toothpaste that i mentioned really does help. oh, and if you ever get a tooth filled again, ask them for a sample of this toothpaste-your dentist should have it on hand, and it will keep you from having to pay for it, since the sensitivity will most likely wear off before you can finish a large tube.

I have the same problem and the dentist can never seem to help no matter what they cover my teeth with or whatever. I was told to try sensitivity pastes, though they do not make much of a difference to me. The fluoride toothpasted hurt the worst for me or the ones like Arm&Hammer with baking soda/peroxide. Even putting mouthwash into my mouth is painful until it warms up a bit or eating grapes-I have to eat them with my front teeth if they have been refrigerated. Part of my problem is that my nerves in my gums are close and exposed so it is worse around my molars on the bottom close to the gumline. Brush gentler, try a different paste, and notice the foods that hurt the worst and be careful.

You could try switching your toothpaste. Try one that says it's for sensitivity.
