One, my favorite uncle. I could talk to him about anything under the sun, even while pregnant with my daughter. Unfortunately, she was a little over a year when he died January 16th, 2005. He was hospitalized for a month and in that month, met her for the first time. Two, my mother in law. I swear, nowhere in this world does there exist a woman like her. She glowed with love. I honestly wish I could take her place. It was like God himself was blessing people by having her around. She loved me, too, and everyone knew I was her favorite daughter in law. Both of them I was there when they died, and held their hands. Three, but she should be first, my grandmother. I loved her dearly, but because she died when I was 7, I don't remember a lot about her. I do remember that she was afraid of anything outside of her home in her old age and would only go outside in front of the house with me. My mom had to bring her groceries and medications because she just would not go. And last, my good friend Susan. She died October 15th from brain cancer. I knew her for 9 years and was crushed when I found out that it had affected her quicker than usual. I miss all of them. They would have been proud of my accomplishments. And the only reason I went to college and graduated was because of Susan, who pushed me constantly when she saw my school grades. This one's for you Susan!!!

A teacher in high school, Mrs. Wingate (may she rest in peace) who taught me to love history in particular, and knowledge in general.
My late brother, who taught me to disagree without being disagreeable.
All of the other nurses I have ever worked with, who taught me the depths of human compassion.
