Rain is a form of precipitation, other forms of which include snow, sleet, hail, and dew. Rain forms when separate drops of water fall to the Earth's surface from clouds. Not all rain reaches the surface, however; some evaporates while falling through dry air. When none of it reaches the ground, it is called virga, a phenomenon often seen in hot, dry desert regions. The scientific explanation of how rain forms and falls is called the Bergeron process.

Basically, the moisture in the air begins to get too heavy to remain in the air and then it begins to fall.

Rain is created by condensation. First of all there are two air masses responsible for this to happen, warm air and cold air. When the two begin to merge, clouds form and if there is enough condensation, stratus clouds form. These are the clouds that generally produce rain. Another way is when warm air rises from the earth to the upper levels of the stratosphere (troposphere) it collides with cold air and can produce cumulus clouds that generally produce showers and thunderstorms.

Our atmosphere contains a percentage of gaseous water, which varies by region and temperature. When the level of evaporated wate becomes greater than the temperature of the atmosphere can sustain, the water precipitates, gathers into droplets, and falls to Earth as rain.

Moisture in the air gathers around minute particles of dust. These gradually gets to big to float around in the form of a cloud, so it falls to earth as rain.

the atmosphere is like a glutton. Their favorite food is moisture. they take and they take until they puff up and weigh a ton. When that happens, like any good old human, they must relieve themselves. Thats why umbrellas were invented, so buy one.
