Well, one Bush twin is an intern for UNICEF in Panama right now, the other is a Volunteer working with aids patients in Africa. So you can't knock how they are living thier lives after graduating.
and as a side point, I bet you never ask, why Chelesa didn't Volunteer to go to Haiti or the Balkans.

It needed to be said and I applaud you for saying it. The truth is if enough of the rich and privileged children were enlisting (and I did say enlisting and not entering as officers) and dying over there, this so-called war would have been over a long time ago. I have many immediate family members in the military and some have already served over there and some are on there way. I love them dearly, but I cannot respect or support what is wrong. If you join the military after this mess already began, then you walk into it knowing it was wrong. Why allow the US government to pimp you out over some hidden(but so obvious) agenda? For what, so you can get your college education paid for? So you can buy a house? None in their right mind can tell me it is because they believe in this cause or Bush. So what would you call it to join just because it is the "patriotic" thing to do and not because it is the right thing to do. When judgment day comes those fighting in the war will be judged the same as Bush. So you better hope that your patriotism will save you then.

My family is some what on the high end of middle class, they aren't rich but they have nice things. I joined the Navy at 18 because it was the right thing to do for me. My parents could afford collage but I still chose to earn my own way through life. Now to the real answer to your question, I think that most people should join up for 2 years and serve their country, regardless of your social status. The military helps you develop a sense of being and understanding of who you are. You are responsible for your actions. It is very unlikely that you will see many if any politician's children in the armed forces.

I'm in the military and I wouldn't want to wish a WAR ON ANYONE!!!, But I signed on and now I'm here. What is with every one trying to get some one else to do the dirty work... If you are so afraid of going to war DON'T JOIN THE MILITARY!!! Its that simple... No one is being forced to join... Besides I may not be rich, but at least I'm earning a paycheck... What do you do for a living? Never mind, I don't want to debate with you... I have enough trouble with big words not to mention small minds...

College student, I presume?
NOT "only the poor" who serve. I live in a small military community - we have an Army and an Air Force Base. Needless to say, I know quite a few people in the military. Sure, some of them are from poor backgrounds, but anytime you have a large group of people, that's going to happen. Most of the people I know are from a middle-class background, and yes, I even know - GASP - kids from rich, Republican families who have enlisted and served in Iraq. I have some very dear friends who are certainly middle-class in a socioeconomic sense, and they lost their oldest son in Iraq. They weren't huge Bush fans, but their son believed in what he was doing so much that he re-enlisted.
In fact, re-enlistment has been EXCELLENT. Of course some soldiers are pissed off and unhappy - again, look at the large number of people we're talking about. There are also a lot of service members who believe in what they are doing over there. I've heard from the majority of them that I've talked to that our media is misleading us. Yes, things are bad in Baghdad, but look at Kurdistan. Look at the lower third of the country. Both regions are really pretty stable, especially considering the BS going on in Baghdad.
I know you're going to just ignore me, but I can at be proud of the fact that my argument is lucid and clear, where yours is just an angry rant. Well, hell, I can't say that anymore, now can I? Good God I'm turning into one of you.
Let the thumbs down begin!
Not that this will be up long -
Fran, you ignorant ho. My brother is a PROUD member of the National Guard - has been for years. He is going to Iraq. So PISS OFF you stupid little *****. The Guard is NOT a way out of war. My brother wasn't surprised at all to be called, and he knew it was a risk when he enlisted.
You not worthy of the freedoms our men and women have died for over the years. I don't give a rats *** if you don't agree with this war - our troops deserve some respect.
Go ahead and report me - I just hope she reads it first.

why are you nonetheless blaming bush all of the democrats who have been presently elected reported they could convey the troops abode as quickly as conceivable an have yet to take action blame them they made delivers and not retaining them. As for sending the twins and different elected officers little ones to iraq they'd bypass in the event that they below their very own decision joined the army even if it could be like prince harry they could be saved abode for the secure practices of the different troops. we could convey returned the draft and deliver all little ones of despite team the president belongs to serve in wars or despite comes up for the time of their term. while the hot president is elected and the hot occasion is in ability all of the former occasion troops come abode and the hot communities little ones decide for his or her 4 or 8yr term. and we disbaned the small events so every physique counts no green occasion or something its republican or democrat not something

when you put the uniform on, you have officially grown into an adult. to serve and believe with all you have that you are doing whats right, not all will agree. but to this generation, dont disrespect the troops. until you have walked in the boots of a soldier, you havent learned half as much nor have you earned
what the troops have earned. it takes a hell of a woman or man to enlist. its not about your opinion of what is right or wrong, its about the honor, duty, country that most take to there grave.
its words to you civilians that have the right to bash and be smartasses towards soldiers, but til you have walked in those boots you are just a hot air balloon blowing in the wind.
you can sit and criticize the president, that ok, but when you bash troops for serving this country, thats unpatriotic as hell.
when you put on the uniform, your civilian income doesnt come into the picture, green is equal, to a soldier may hav grown up broke and poor having to stand by a soldier that was born with a spoon in there mouth, doesnt come into that realm of thinking.
when you have to depend on your buddy, money and status doesnt enter the picture. trust, honor, loyalty, friendship is what its about.
you have buddies growing up in school, but when in service
you have buddies that you would gladly and honorably lie your life on the line to protect there's. thats what it boils down to.
have you ever felt the responsibility of having lives in your hand,
or to hand your life over to a buddy, that is what you experience
when you serve. and its a damn proud feeling to trust someone
that you have just met, no matter the background or how much
mom and pop makes.
its about honor, duty, and country. the soldiers are heroes,
and should be treated with respect.
not all will agree with the war, but the troops have deserved
every ounce of respect from the citizens of this great country.
until you have walked in combat boots, you still need to grow up.
to all the troops and there families, and to the fallen soldiers
past present, future, MAY GOD BLESS THEM ALL

By rights they should. It would be the first time they actually did a days work I bet. It would be nice to see hat they cared enough to maybe lose one of their own for their country. McCain's son is serving, just as he did, and his father before him ...but then again he is actually patriotic rather than just giving it lip service.

Anyone who asks questions like this needs to strap on and head over.
Only then do you have the right to ask it of others.
Michael Moore is a coward who would never think of joining or even visiting the troops to boost morale. I know this is where you got the idea, I just thought I would put it into perspective.
As a veteran, though, I have to admit that I believe in volunteering. You get to decide for yourself and have no business deciding for anyone else.

Yes, it would be nice but we all know that it isn't going to happen. There are all types of people in the military...poor/middle class--usually enlisted and well off--most are officers. I see the military as high class welfare.
Everyone has their reasons for joining. But most enlisted people get trapped because most of our senior ranking put fear in people and make them believe they can not make it with out the military. (One of their tactics for trying to get people to stay in) They often ask, "What are you going to do when you get out, flip burgers?" (The ignorant senior raking asks this because all they know IS the military.) Others enlisted members have families and can afford to get out so no matter what they choose to stay in. Then you have the ones that absolutely love the military life and will make it a career.
No matter what the reason joining or staying in the military is a personal choice.
