I'm really into photography, but so far i've only used my parents camera to take pictures. I want to get one for myself, that is decently priced($150-300) and can produce nice looking pictures. Also, if someone could explain the difference between cameras to me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I just got done pricing this out and recommending it to someone else with the same request.
Get a Canon Powershot A630. The camera and a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra II memory card will come in at just under $300.
Here's a review.

Yahoo! Community Guidelines really frown upon links to retailers, but if you go to the Yahoo! home page (Look at the top of this page on the right hand side.), then click on "Shopping" on the left hand side and then type "Canon Powershot A630" into the search window, you will find several retailers, including Beach Camera who has a good price and good service.

If you know what your doing with a camera and your budget is less than $1500, you should buy a film SLR from Cannon or Nikon. Done properly, shots taken on film are far superior to the lower end digitals. (even though you can get great shots with them too). Spend $$$$ on the best lenses you can afford and when your ready to upgrade to a digital SLR the lenses that you already bought will work on the new digital.

Hi Shelly,
Look for the ones you seem to like ($150-$300) and ask me all the questions you have so we can compare them together.
Other than price and brand, look for:
1- Megapixels
2- Optical zoom
3- Shooting modes
4- Video recording resolution (video+audio)
5- Extras that come with it

at the same time as it contains being in the back of the digicam, i'm a digicam whore. however, being in the front of it? Very shy... maximum human beings continually inquire from me for cutting-edge p.c.. and that i so very not often take them. heck. my internet cam has purely been on in this new computer because i did not understand the settings. when you consider that then? once.... Now when you consider that I really have not shot anyones' percentin a lengthy time period.....and that i have were given loads of movie...and some digital cameras....
