He never did. His divinity was proclaimed long after his death, by certain sects. Then a council called by Constantine selected that point of view and established it as the official state Christianity.

All is written in the scriptures. Any answer to this question other than this will be a hypothetical answer - as this question itself is hypothetical. The only logic we will find will be through the scriptures as the first premise, is to be first accepted; yes Jesus did live with us, and only then the rest of the answer follows. The answer lies in the Old Testament and the New Testament, later corroborated by the Dead Sea Scrolls and a lot of archaelogical work done in Palestine, Egypt and Asia Minor.

The Jewish religion back then was a near equivalent of today's christians. The jews back then believed christ was coming at some point.
Now that when Christ came-The religion didn't automatically get changed to Christianity. It stayed as 'Jewish', but changed a bit They now believed God was coming, and that indeed, Christ was the savior.
In the times of Saul/Paul ... Judaism and Christianity became to seperate pieces. The people began to say - he was nothing but a mocker.
Then, people reverted to old Judaism - "The Savior is Coming"
And those who believed on Christ were now his followers, Christians
So by the turn of B.C.-A.D. Judaism split into two.
Just like the early people of America - splitting into seperate parties (democratically)

Jesus was born Jewish but, knew all along he was the son of God. At twelve years of age, he lagged behind while his parents traveled home, just to talk to the elders of the temple. When asked why he did that, he told his parents that he was doing his father's work.

He didn't "proclaim" it...He revealed it.. that He and God the Father are one...and later He revealed the Holy Spirit.
So, the only change is that we learned that the One True God, or "One Nature", has revealed Himself in three persons.
Look at it this way: I have one nature...ME. But I have "revealed" myself as several persons. I am ME the son (my father's kid), ME the father (my kid's dad), and ME the, say, boss (my employees' supervisor.)
It's always little 'ole me...one nature...but I put on different hats depending on who I'm dealing with or what I'm trying to accomplish.

Yes he was Jewish but he was also a part of the trinity that is God. He said in the bible, I and the father are one. He also said before abraham was, I AM.
