Trophy. That was my role. My folks basically ignored me after age 10. Before that, I was dressed up and paraded around like a show pony. It was the 50's and married people had kids, whether they wanted to or not.

I'm the youngest so I get the most attention from my parents but now that I'm older, I've reversed the roles and give lots of attention to my parents for all the sacrifices they have gone through for me.

As school age children our boys have a job. That job is school. They are expected to preform at their job as we are expected to at our jobs. It is their way of contributing to their future. They are also expected to help with household chores. We ask that they respect themselves and others in the family as well as out in the world. They are rewarded for their contributions to the family by being fed clothed and taken care of. In addition they are to be loved unconditionally.

I was the oldest and I hated it. I hated going through everything before my siblings and having no one to talk to. I also got blamed for everything and my parents were tougher on me. There are good things though. I was considered "the boss" and my younger siblings looked up to me, and still do!
