When I go into Properties for the folder and clear the check box, right after I click OK if I go back in, the box is checked again, and won't let me rename the folder. What the hell is the problem?!

As a result, I can't rename it. What's going on and how do I fix it?

if you can't get it unprotected...there is a way around it. go to the file and save it as and give it another name.

This is a bug in XP. The folder is not read-only, you can still add files to it. Don't worry about it.

Chanses are the folder is in use by another application. Either that or it has been corrupted somehow.
