I think this is a very interesting question because you seem to come from the point of view that humans are somehow outside the natural world. I think this is the crux of the problem. If humans could change that mindset to one where we consider ourselves part of nature, it would change everything. I think we would be much more aware of how we interact with our environment, instead of trying to dominate it or live separate from it.
