The only association I see between mountain dew and kidney stones is that carbonated beverages with high caffeine content have a diuretic effect on the body - slight dehydration. Dehydration is a major cause for kidney stones. You often hear to prevent stones you need to keep yourself hydrated by drinking water every day. Given that caffeine is weak diuretic, only large quantities will produce measurable dehydration.

From the quick google search that I did, it seems that Mt Dew causes kidney stones if that is the only thing that you drink. A friend of mine is a avid Mt Dew drinker and because she will drink other things (milk, water, kool-aid) she has never developed kidney stones. However, I think they're just cautioning you on if you're only drinking Mt. Dew. Savvy?

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
