I know when i say heaven i refer to it as Spirit Paradise, which is kind of like a resting place, untill the judgement day. It will kind of be like a happier earth! Of course i cant speak for everyone else. ha ha

A person you know, and have known for years as a good person dies, and to comfort the family your going to say - he'll be in heaven after judgment day, OR say he/she IS there NOW. You would say now.
Same as we say a very bad person is in hell, now, not waiting for judgment day in the far future, after we learn the bad person is dead.
Humans learned this comforts the living, and people need comforting after a loved one dies.

When people say " they are in heaven now" is just a say and it is just an earthly desire, because they still live. When a person die, it is the spirit that goes to heaven, you leave your earthly body behind.

Heaven in christianity is the place where people of God (believer in Jesus Christ) and God will live togather, it will start when u ask jesus to come to be ur saviour, u will be from that moment living with God, u will be in heaven even if u r living on earth.
when u die u will transfer to a place waiting to the no. to be complete anfter that u will come with jesus when he returns back

as a christian i have been already judged and i won't be judged on the judgement day.
i am not a sinner anymore because jesus took my sins.
i will be directly to heaven and i will watch people (who didn't believe) during their judgement

Jesus said to the thief on the cross next to him. 'Today you will be with me in paradise." It can be considered that paradise and heaven are different (paradise before the judgment and heaven after) but it stems from the above 'being with Jesus today'. Also, don't worry so much about the timing of things after you die, just make sure your life is right with Jesus before you die.

Dr. Richard Blacher of Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, wrote: “I suggest that people who undergo these ‘death experiences’ are suffering from a hypoxic [oxygen deficiency] state, during which they try to deal psychologically with the anxieties provoked by the medical procedures and talk. . . . We are dealing here with the fantasy of death, not with death itself.

the “visions” of the nearly dead: “As in hallucinations, the visions of the afterlife are suspiciously like this world, according to the accounts provided by dying patients themselves.”

The Bible explains that before Jesus died on the cross there was no going to heaven. man had to wait for the sacrifice of Christ to atone for our sins. As God would not allow sin to enter the kingdom of Heaven. There was a waiting place called Abraham's bosom. At Christ's death however, the repentant thief on the cross near him asked to be remembered in Christ's kingdom and Jesus replied this day you shall be with me in paradise.
Once the blood of Jesus was shed for all of mans sins, We were given a way to be forgiven and cleansed of sin so we could be with God.
From that moment of atoning. Mankind who believe in Christ as the son of God and receive Him as the only way to Heaven are able to join him in Heaven in their spirit upon death. The Bible tells us that upon Christ Final return to rapture his people, the bodies of those in Heaven will rise from the earth, be made perfect and join their Spirit which is already with God.Then those still living who believe and trust him will be taken up and transformed as well.To be with God for ever

Only those who accept the Jesus of the bible into thier hearts will go to heaven when they die, because you have to be perfectly right with God to go there, and only Jesus can make one right with God.

I wonder if they have a little lobby that everyone waits in for Judgement day, where people are free to read Vogue, Time, and the Wall Street Journal...

I agree with you, that despite it being in contradiction of their scriptures, many Christians do say that. It's the same as Father Christmas: there is no biblical basis for him, yet most Christians believe in him. That's because they like fairytales and fairytale endings.
