I've gotten them in a hot dry dusty climate at Black Rock City, Nevada, home of the annual Burning Man event. My nose dried up and became caked with dust. I felt the need to pick it...it bled for ten minutes.

I think it's the most normal at high altitudes, or if you change altitudes, or if the environment is hot and dry or cold and dry. I don't know about the humidity, but if you blow your nose a lot that can irritate it too, not for a severe nosebleed, but you'll notice spots.

Yes it's normal to get a nosebleed from strenous activity. But it's normal to get a nosebleed in any environment

Basically, you get nosebleeds beause the capillaries in your nose maybe close to the epidermis in your nose...so whenever that gets ruptured your nose will bleed...many people get nosebleeds in the winter because it tends to get dry in their nose. I have a thick epidermis so the last time I had a nose bleed was about 2 decades ago...
