It's because Satanists tend to be anti-social and prone to doing things that most people don't like...like this Satanist who wants to make a pipe bomb:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ahq1T_xxxECHBlKntSjH4VwjzKIX?qid=20070108163833AAGoDeV
Hopefully he doesn't go to your school!
And also because of newspaper headlines like some of these:
http://usminc.org/crime.html
And because of using human skulls and leg bones, cannibalism, coffins and other wierd things they do in their rituals like the ones found in The Satanic Rituals by Anton LaVey, and Satan Wants You by Aurthur Lyons.
http://usminc.org/satanism.html
I should also point out LaVey wasn't one of "the nuts" that most Satanists will tell about, but one of the "Alien Elite" .
It's common sense to be fearful of people like this...and this is why some people are drawn to Satanism in the first place, namely shock value.
And chances are there are some Satanists in your school and they will whine to the ACLU about what your principal said, and the principal will retract his statement. I'm sure that will make you happy. (And there have been cases where Christians students were forced to take down posters about God they put on their lockers, too.)

I am a Satanist 16 years old and I find it very hard to be in an environment in which all the other students look down on me because of the common misconceptions the "Christian Church" puts on us. I once wore a Satanic star of Baphomet around my neck and I got 5 days OSS (out of school suspension) I argued viguresly in the office for this outrageous bull crap. There are kids who walk around with crosses around there necks nothing happens to them heck I've seen kids reading the "Bible" in school. What is this! I'm being persecuted for what I believe in, in a so called "separation of church and state" country. Also just to clear something up Satanism is not a fancy way of being Atheist you where an Anton LaVey'n Satanist I am what is called a Spiritual Satanist. No I do not make sacrifices. No I do not drink blood. No I am not mentally ill. I am a proud Satanist!

Satanism often acts as a mask for juvenile delinquency. I'm a former high school teacher and I'm a Satanist, and honestly, that's the sense behind that decision.
I'm not saying that it's right. I'm not saying that it's true in every case. By and large, though, the stereotype of the misanthropic, isolated "Satanist" youth holds true. If the youth was from a Satanist family, they would either tell their child to keep the religion to himself or they would support their child. Believe me, it would be a whole different matter if parents were threatening a civil rights lawsuit.
All the best,
Lazarus

Well, if this is a public school, you can get them into a lot of trouble if you wanted to. What they're doing is illegal.
Besides, with the amount of ignorance in today's society about different religions, "satanic symbols" are extremely relative to those uneducated. A picture of a lotus flower could be considered Satanic. The Triple Goddess symbol could be viewed as Satanic. See my point?

Im Satanic and I totally agree with you. Im from an overly Catholic and Baptist town, I have to put up with that all the time. In my rule book, they say that If they see anyone supporting Satanism in any form, we'll instantly be expelled, theres about 4 shops and 6 restaurants in town who won't let me and my religious co-op(we belong to an order, we're the only 2 in this town) into the building, etc. It's BS infringing on our rights, and I've thought about filing a suit many times...

Schools absolutely CANNOT legally ban Satanist symbols while allowing other religious symbols. If they try to enforce that unconstitutional rule, I hope someone will contact the ACLU and take them to court!
And, for those who don't know, real Satanists do NOT believe in or worship the Christian deity of Satan.

This is what the world has turned into..kids suing their parents because they didn't like what their said or wouldn't let them do this and that, people suing fast food restaurants because the coffee is to hot (I'm still trying to figure that one out). It's like people don't know what right from wrong anymore. Common sense will tell you that having satanic symbols is just not right, but the first thing they will want to do is sue the school. The world has gone crazy.

Many people including actually respect Satan than God. I do not believe Satan exists but respects him as a fictional charecter who fought aginst the tyrant who ruled the world. Since we have the freedom of religion w have the right to worship Satan.

If it is a public school, you (they) have every right to have those symbols in your locker. If it is private, that is a different matter. But from number 1 in your list, I assume it's public. If they take out your (their) Satanic symbols, they should demand that everyone else take out their crosses, stars, crescent moons, etc.

I never liked rules like that, only because what constitutes Satanic shouldn't be decided by a principal. (I'm sure to him, any Celtic symbol or heavy metal band logo would be considered Satanic.)
