My husky has a swollen nose, snout reallly and i think it might be from a silk worm, the ones with the pointing thing on their heads, he was nudging it round the other day. Anyone know if they can cause this and if it could make him sick.

If your husky's snout is swollen he needs emergency treatment. It sounds like a pretty serious allergic reaction to something. But dog's muzzles don't usually swell up from a minor bug bite. Yours might be allergic to the bug, or it may be something else that caused it that you didn't see when it happened.

Either way, the swelling is a serious issue, if it is bad the airways can swell and then your dog can't breathe. just like what happens to humans.

Please watch your dog closely. Keep cool compresses on it's nose area and keep him cool in general. Also, a half a benadryl capsule would help, you would give 12.5mgs.. until you can talk to your clinic in the morning for further care.

any type of bug bite can do this. call the local er vet and they can give you a dose of benadryl, they will know what questions to ask and be able to tell you if the dog needs to be seen or not and if your dog is healthy enough to handle an over the counter med without being observed. good luck.

I would recommend a "VET" since we don't know what is causing the inflammation, must hurt though, their noses are VERY sensitive, best to get him to the "Vet" now.
