Well, I'm sure there'll be a ton of posts about alcohol, and I'll tell you right now, that it will only make you sleep poorly. Alcohol blocks the production of progesterone (the chemical that tells your body it's awake time), and will make you fall asleep super fast, until 3-4 hours later when it stops blocking that producation and you get a rush of "awake time."

Turkey, chicken, well . . . Poultry in general, but turkey in particular, along with warm milk will contain high levels of a chemical called triptophen, which is known to make people very drowsy.

There are also meditative techniques that you could use to calm yourself, which may or may not work. Try exercising during the day as well. A 20 minute aerobic exercise in the morning can really do the trick, but beware that if you do it too close to bed time (even 4-5 hours before) it can have the opposite effect.

Really though, with sleep trouble, I'd reccomend speaking to a doctor if you at all can. You could actually have a real sleep problem, or perhaps get referred to a psychologist for calming techniques that can instantly get you sleeping well. Professionals are usually there for good reason.

Hope this helps!

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I used to use a natural sleep aid called Calm-U-Nat, I got it from GNC it helps your mind rest when you lay down. (not think so much) Thats the reason some people have trouble sleeping. They have so much they are thinking about. It helped me.

When you are in bed imagine a piece of white paper. Don't let your mind wonder. If it starts to wonder just go back to the white paper. Relax your whole body inch by inch starting with your toes. gradually work your way up to your head. if you fallow my instructions you wont even make to the top of your head. good luck.
