terriers are great kid dogs. so it should as with any dog you shouldn't have a problem w/ the kids just teach it to be gentle.
what i've always done w/ my puppies have been to get a puppy training pad and put paprika underneath it. teah him to know that the smell of paprika is where he can go. also the puppy pads have a pheremone in them that make puppies want to go on the pad.

crate train. as for kids well should have thought of that before getting the dog. but since we are here now any dog will do well if you take the time to exercise and train them. good luck.

crate train. only way to go. why would you want it to pee/ poop in the house.
buy a crate that is slightly bigger than the dog. big enough to only sit, stand, and lie down comfortably. when you leave the house, put him in. as soon as you return home, take him out immediately! don't let him walk around. when you are home, take him out every hour. when he pees/poops outside, praise and reward him. lots of time and love needs to be spent. we trained our mini dach, and in 3 weeks he started going to the door. dachs are supposed to be one of the hardest to train (stubborn as hell). good luck, and remember, you need time and love to do this. don't limit his water just so you don't need to walk him every hour. you got him, you need to spend time with him.
