This happens to my hands during winter especially, but also other times of the year when seasons change. I moisturize them often, and apply hand lotion when flakes actually appear. Lately they've been flaking a lot, I'll work hand lotion in and 30 mins later my skin feels dry again and flakes appear.

If anyone has any tips to combat this, they'd be greatly appreciated.

It just seems like having dry skin, nothing more than that-having it at an excessive rate, specific only to my hands. I do wash dishes in hot water a lot. My skin may just be sensitive. I use cocoa butter handlotion and collagen & elastin hand lotion.

Have you seen a dermatologist for your hands? What kind of hand lotion are you using? It is best to get a medical diagnosis of what you are experiencing so that you can look for an appropriate solution to your condition.

I feel your pain. I work as a Surgical Technologist. I have a similar problem. I like Aveda Hand Relief. It is a little on the expensive side, but it doesn't take much, is not heavily perfumed, not greasy and does not wash of completely the first time your hands get wet. I have a problem with palmar eczema in the winter months and this is the only thing that has helped. In fact, for the past two winters, I have had minimal break outs. If your hands are really dry and cracked, get you some petroleum jelly (Vaseline makes a 'cream' Vaseline petroleum jelly) and put it on at bedtime with a pair of gloves. If you don't want to sleep in the gloves, put the Vaseline on with the gloves and somehow warm your hands. (I call this the poor mans hot wax treatment) It really works great. Good luck with those hands.
