Most are free just do a search. They all come out with the same thing. The keys are

1. A Program or programs which are easy enough for you to use to get your desired results
2. The Divx codec. It has very good settings that are easy to understand.
3. The original DVD's which you purchased.

I have heard DVD SANTA is good...its free! I just use Nero, it seems to be able to rip, burn and convert .avi files and such...I liek it though others tend to have issues with it. Are you trying to convert .avi or .xvid etc files? If so, Nero is good, but not free. Try SAnta!
