Considering that ANY version of the Bible that we read today is a translation from the original language, why do some Christians maintain that the only correct version is the King James Version?

The original was written in Greek . Actually it's a conglomeration of many sources into one "coherent" volume. It's an editing job put together after a lot of bickering back stabbing killing torturing burning of cities and Libraries(Alexandria). and then deciding in the name of god that this is the right version of things. It then went to a Latin translation. The old testament is in Hebrew translated in to Greek and then Latin. Translations are always problematic especially where concepts are involved. For example the Greek refers to Mary (mother of Jesus) as Kori which means in Greek a young woman unmarried. It has no connotations of virginity. and yet there she is a virgin! Because the Bible is full of inconsistencies the Church fought tooth and nail to stop any translation in to any spoken language so that people would not try to answer questions and interpret them for them selves. The Church had a monopoly in the interpretation. God means this and I know because I'm his representative. Same thinking went into the St James bible. You simply can not have a bunch of different translations of bibles in circulation, contradicting each other. Therefore the axiom of Christianity "believe and do not question. An analogy would be only one version of Darwin accepted and anything that disagrees with the Evolution of Species is dangerous, sinful and punishable with extreme prejudice. Science does not allow this -science be praised. All the problems within christianity The Schism (in to two Churches-Orthodox and Catholic) the split in to Catholics and protestants etc are all based on interpratations. What is amazing is that the system still works.

the translation of the bible can be literaly (word by word) and can be idea by idea not the exact word. and it can be the explanation like the massege version.
so which will be more perfet and near to God word is the literal tanslating
where the ideas and explanations translation can be interact with people thoughts.
i think that the king james version is literaly translated so its nearest to what God word said

i asked the same thing to christians for example.....
"i went to the drug store to buy some orange juice"
now why do i have to have 10 different translations of the statement above? i think just 1 translation is fine for me.

This is why I have a Bible dictionary and a concordance. The kjv doesn't have it all right either. Especially on using the word Hell, or God's name.

They conclude that the KJV is and has been blessed/honored by God, judging from various circumstantial factors, which they perceive as evidence but seem only conjectural to others.
