Go for it... Or don't. It really depends. Your friendship may get akward if you ask him again and he doesn't like you, but if he does, you could have a great time.

Before you ask him out become a better friend to him. He might have said I don't know because he doesn't want to risk losing you as a friend. You could try to get to know him better in a group go watch a movie with a group of your friends and include him. Wait and see.

u seem young. i am in 7th grade so i just stopped having this problem this year but last year the same stuff happened to me. if he says i dont know it means that he wants to say no but he doesnt want to hurt your feelings. id say wait a year till he is ready to be in a relationship. for now just stick to being friends

If he turned you down once and nothin has changed, how he acts around you or whatever then chances are he only thinks of you as a friend
