not possible that the people there where so desperate for a saviour if one had not been born they would have had to choose or create one to give some hope to people?

From all accounts of the Roman occupation of lands it was a pretty horific state of affairs. Feeding people to lions watching them kill each other in arenas, slavery etc etc.

Your question does not show that you have knowledge of the Bible. First, the Jews were looking for a Messiah since time began. God spoke to Adam about sending one who would step on the snake (devil) head. The people were always on the lookout for their Messiah. It was repeatedly prophesied about in several places in old testament. At the appointed time they didn't accept Jesus because they were expecting a conquering hero who would smash the Romans and Jesus was more of a pacifist, they couldn't accept his peaceful self-sacrificing ways.
*Also the Romans killing people with Lions in the arenas was some time later after Jesus' death. Romans were killing Christians and that official movement started after Jesus' death.

There were some who were considered by the Jews to be the Messiah. What many Jewish leaders were looking for was a warrior (like Muhammed who came centuries later).

Look up Masada online and you will read about the warriors for Judaism against Rome.

Most of the accounts you speak of like feeding people to lions, happened after Jesus died. This was done mostly by Nero, who was ruler after Jesus died, not before or during His life.

They didn't choose or create their own savior when they were in exile in Babylon and under the same circumstances.

no. because until now Jews don't believe that he is their savior. People are too suspicious and experiencing too much hell to be able to make believe.
