Keep telling yourself that......

I also have problems with anxiety & depression. And I can drink one (just 1) Margarita at night and it makes me feel great. Daytime too. Same results each time: relaxed and improved mood. But that's just one drink. And I will be quite frank with you, I like it too much to trust myself to do it everyday. Or every week for that matter.

I believe I would become an alcoholic very fast if I did. I even discussed it with my phychitrist once. She said that it would be very risky and she preferred I not take that risk. And by the way, I was told that alcohol is a depressant. I tend to believe it, since I have an uncle that was an alcoholic and was drinking one night and ended up shooting himself. He died. A sad way to end one's life.... Another sad way is to continue to drink until you can no longer remember who your family is and what year it is. Think it can't happen? I'm a FT caregiver for a man who has a brain injury due to alcohol poisoning. He can barely remember he has two sons. He remembers his daughter though.....and me.

Well, It happens.... So think about it....... Since you do like beer so much, why don't you find another way to handle your mental health issues than using alcohol. And that way you'll still be able to enjoy the beer when you do chose to drink it. At least that way you know you are in complete control of it and yourself. And you'll be around to enjoy more in the future.....

Just my 2 cents worth. Thanks & take care of yourself!

Be careful.

I suffer from anxiety and depression myself sometimes, and I can tell you that beer isn't always good for you if you have any of those problems. I remember a few occasions when I was feeling perfectly fine, and I drank a beer, and I felt like the world was going to end afterwards. Alcohol just isn't good for you. I encourage you to stay away from alcohol and keep trying things your doctor recommends.

Yep. I like to drink. I'd like to share all of my interesting stories, but you'd have to ask my friends. I don't remember many of them. There's nothing wrong with having a good time but don't try to replace therapy with beer. It's a depressant and can cause more damage than the buzz. I'm halfway through my six pac right now and I'm going to be a rude girl in the morning.

Beer has been enjoyed for hundreds of years. Weihenstephan (Germany) claims to be the birthplace of hopped beer. In 1040, town authorities gave the monks permission to brew and sell their beer.

The Italians helped out by inventing pizza. which goes well with beer.

One day, it will stop working and you'll need twice the psych meds to straighten out your mixed up neurochemistry.
