Ok I have an 8lb Papillon and my Vet recommended Iams small and toy! But it is so expensive and they only sell the 7lb bags for $10-12 a bag! Do they sell Iams small and toy in larger size bags! Like 50 lb bags! So i wouldn't have to buy it as often! Thanks in advance!

They do make it in a 17.5lbs bag, but it will probably be hard to find. Also, I wouldn't recommend it (Iams uses a lot of by-products, ground corn, and fillers; just read the ingredients list) and neither would my vet, he thinks that it is horrible. I like Purina Pro Plan Selects (turkey formula) for my small breed dogs. It is about $25 for a 17.5lbs bag but my picky eater loves it and it doesn't bother his stomach like Iams and Eukanuba do.

The source has information about the food and you can also get a free sample (which comes with a $3 off coupon).

Also to the person below that says that it has corn in it, it has no ground corn in it! It has corn gluten meal (which is not ideal, but it is digestible) but it does not have ground corn. In Iams small/toy ground corn is the second ingredient. It is also in most Nutro foods (especially Nutro Max). Also I looked at the ingredients list for Nutro Ultra adult and the main ingredient is rice. They have it broken down into three components so it is not first on the list (they have it as whole rice 2nd, ground rice 3rd, and rice bran 5th). Dog food companies often do that so they can list a protein as the main ingredient, even though it really isn't. But as you said, to each is own.

Iams is not considered a good quality dog food. In fact, most vets say don't use it, and most dog experts agree that it is a low quality food. There are much better dog foods available (for a comparable price). I suggest you check around at your local pet supply stores, especially natural pet stores.

Further, before you continue feeding your dog Iams, I highly suggest that you do a little research. In your research, try using terms like "Iams" and "animal cruelty." Iams literally tortures dogs in their laboratory, and I am certain that as a fellow dog lover, once you see the footage and read the documentation, you will stop feeding your dog Iams.

Good luck!

why would you want to buy the bigger bag it will just go stale . Have you tried either royal canin which is breed specific food or eukanuba ? I know both these brands come in bigger bags . If you only have 1 it will not eat that much . I have a 3 lb chihuahua and he does not hardly eat anything at all . I mean a 7 lb bag has lasted me about 3 weeks. I hope this helps . good luck .

Yes I am sure they do. Most dog foods come in small as well as large size bags. However, I would suggest that you purchase the small bag first to try and see if your dog likes it first, before you go and purchase the larger bag. Also to keep in mind that the larger bag will most likely be more expensive (usually twice as expensive).

You can find the large size bags at most pet stores (Petsmart/Petco).

That is a link to the website where you can type in your zip code and the type of IAMS dog food you want to purchase and it'll bring up the closest store that you can purchase the food at. You might want to call ahead of time to see if they sell the large dog food bag.

As for the above post who says that Purina ProPlan. I looked @ the link to the website and they advertise that they do not use ground corn, but if you look closely they still use whole grain corn. Corn is consider a filler for dogs and they do not digest it. To each their own I guess. I feed my dog Nutro Ultra. Good Luck.

Your vet has recommended a good dog food, but I understand the problem with the size of the bag compared to the expense. I have two small dogs. I happen to feed my Schipperekes Nutro and have for years. It's a little less expensive at $6.99 a bag, but you only get 4 pounds to a bag.
We recently moved which meant getting a new vet. Our vet also does boarding. And guess what our vet feeds the boarders? Nutro small bite in a dark green bag. And where can I get it? I can buy it at Costco in a 40 lb bag for $16.99! I don't know if yu have Costco, but it's a membership box store.
You may be able to buy it at Sam's Club, I don't know as we don't have a Sam's Club in our town.
This might be something to look in to. Good luck!

Iams is a very good dog food and it is not loaded with fillers so you don't have to feed your dog as much. A small bag of Iams will last a long time. It will also digest better so you will not have as much poop. Don't get a large bag because it will go stale. A $10-$12 bag of Iams will last a month. That is not much. Many grocery stores now sell Iams.

I am surprised your vet reccomended Iams, it really isn't that great quality.

The best food you can get is Canin.

Some pet stores have it, but uaully you need to buy it at a vets office (it can be any vets office, not yours)
