Books advocating atheism are all over the Amazon bestseller charts of late...The Religious Right just took a thumping in the November elections....Europe is becoming more secular by the day. Is Christianity on the way out?

Wow - if the first several responses are any gauge, there don't even appear to be enough Christians left to mount a counter-argument!

People are beginning to recognize the dangers of religion and that more religious fascism is not the answer to other people's religious fascism.

People will try every option to solve a problem. It's only as a last resort that they will try to solve it by thinking.

Europe is becoming secular? No; it always was.

There are over a billion atheists and agnostics in the world and that is a substantial force. The ideology is sound and is not inherently destructive to humanity as religion is. Education promotes reason and reason is the root of atheism.

I think the Christians opposing medical research, and the rise of the religious right generally has made a lot of atheists and agnostics believe they need to stand up for what they believe.

I'm not sure if that's momentum, as they may not be persuading anyone but themselves?

Its hard when priests are tampering with children, restrictions from 2000 years ago are put on people, women are not taking the back position any more, wars are started over religions, holy fuc en jihad the list goes on.

All religions have lost their footings. We no longer need them to explain the world around us. Gradually they are fading away. Maybe in another 2000 years....
