Why does India have two names- India and Bharat? It appears as if Bharat is the Hindi translation of India.

When there is no East Bengal why do we have West Bengal even today?

The word INDIA is derived from the river INDUS. It`s Bharat because Bharat ruled it. Bengal was divided into east and west . East Bengal is now called Bangladesh. West Bengal retains the original name.
