i have seen shows where they find finger prints or dna and have nothing to match it to because the person has not had a crimal history yet. so i was wondering y cant it be a law that everyone who is already born has to give samples and be on file and at the time of birth each infant would have a dna sample and finger prints in the system that way every one would be in there and if you mess up they got ya? or do you think this would be some kind of invasion of your rites? or is there some other reason i am not seeing that this would or wouldnt work? would really like to here from some people in law.

I'm in law enforcement, and I think it would be very helpful to have everybody, newborns or not, to have their fingerprints and DNA on file!
Only those who aren't law abiding citizens would a problem with it, well, in my opinion!
Having fingerprints and DNA on file will not just serve the purpose of finding a guilty person, but also in identifying corpses, paternities, etc. Definitely a very good thing to me!!!

Actually, the finger print issue will be resolved by the end of next year with the federal gov't requiring all state driver's licenses to fit a standard model. One of the stipulation will be to have a fingerprint. When you give your fingerprints for the license, they will also be put on file.

I am sure at some point the DNA thing will also happen. When? Who knows. But, I am sure many will complain about it.

While ACLU will probably say it is an invasion of privacy, it is minimal and as prior military law enforcement and currently a paralegal student, it may be able to pass soon enough for adding it to IDs and DLs. For younger kids, I don't think it should be done by the government for law enforcement purposes, however, it should be done by parents in case the kids turn up missing.

Now, the DNA case is already in place for the military. The DNA is kept in a database to "identify GI remains in case there is no other method of identification available."

cant see any reason why not BUT am pretty sure it will not happen in my life time or my kids.........this would fall under the big brother policy I would assume and is not much of a step behind that film where they would come and arrest you due to your thoughts..........

I always found that the ones bleating the loudest about civil rights when the debate of id cards being carried in the UK was from the actual criminal element....basically the ones that had things to hide............but their 'rights' was a good blanket to hide behind.
