I recently had a clear face for weeks without a single pimple. However yesterday I woke up with 4 new ones, 2 on each side of my face where I shave. Was this possibly triggered by something I did? The size of them aren't big but not small either. These past 2 weeks I started eating chocolate donuts daily but have stopped since yesterday.

I got tons of acne while I was studying (cramming) for finals week but they cleared up during vacation. It could be triggered by stress or a diet with too much fast food. Try changing your razor too, it could be the culprit for your acne.

It hasn't been proven to be triggered by peoples diets. But try not eating donuts and see if it makes a difference. In teenage years, ACNE breakouts are very common and can happen at any time. So its not like your face is on a schedule and your face is like, "ok i want pimples here, here, and here, ASAP by tomorrow morning at 6am." no its not like that, its somethign everyone gets. When you become older they will be very rare and you may never experience them ever again.

Stress can make you break-out like that. That's how I usually get them. Eating bad foods can play a role in it, but it doesn't usually affect it too much. I mean, all I eat is fast food/kickin buffalo chicken strips from Friendly's etc. My mindset is if I drink stuff like water/milk it'll flush some of the bad stuff out. I use a bit of product though for la faccia.

It may have been the doughnuts, stress, or just adolescents. I really couldn't tell you unless I studied every aspect of your life for a while. :)

a lot of people think so. but sadly, they are mistaken. here are some facts about acne.

Acne is an inflammatory disease of the sebaceous glands, characterized by comedones and pimples, esp. on the face, back, and chest, and, in severe cases, by cysts and nodules resulting in scarring.
Possible causes of Acne:
1.Blockage of external skin pores
2.Hormonal changes that take place during puberty
3.Secretion of excessive oil in the skin
4.Pregnancy
5.Menstrual Periods
6.High stress levels
7.Contraceptive pills
8.Hereditary
9.Friction caused by leaning on or rubbing the skin
10.Pressure from bike helmets, backpacks, or tight collars
11.Environmental irritants, such as pollution, and high humidity
12.Squeezing or picking at blemishes (causes them to become worse)
13.Hard scrubbing of the skin
Symptoms of Acne:
1.Zits / Pimples on face, neck, back, chest, shoulders, etc.
2.Papules – inflamed lesions that usually appear as small, pink bumps on the skin and can be tender to the touch
3.Pustules (pimples) – papules topped by pus-filled lesions that may be red at the base
4.Nodules – large, painful, solid lesions that are lodged deep within the skin
5.Cysts – deep, painful, pus-filled lesions that can cause scarring
Population most likely to suffer from the condition:
1.Nearly 85 percent of people between the ages of 12 and 24 develop acne.
2.I have personally seen children as young as two that have developed a pimple.
3.On your 25th birthday, your acne does not disappear. It is not uncommon for people to still have acne while older, it is just not as common, because their hormones are not changing as much as they are at younger ages.
Treatment options:
1.Over-the-counter medicines
2.Prescription medicines (both topical, applied to the skin, as well as systematic, swallowed)
Additional interesting facts:
1.Nearly 17 Million people in the United States have acne, making it the most common skin disease.
2.I would like to personally add that antibiotics may also clear up acne. But, it only clears up acne if it is indeed just an infection within the skin. (For some people it is).
3.I would also like to add that all contributing factors of acne are not known. Yes, doctors may claim to know everything, such as that chocolate or oily foods contribute to acne, but the only way they could prove this would be to put a person a diet of just that type of food, and then off that type of food, and measure which time they have more acne. BUT! This does not work. Why? Because of the hormonal changes that the person goes through during those diets. So in sum, acne is still a mystery, and doctors do not know everything about it.

Acne can be triggered by your own habits...not washing and moisturing your face on a schedule....Or the products you use aren't that good.

Also, my acne problem is hormonal...the mediation that the dermatologist gave me was something to just help my acne righ tnow now since my other doctor is working on my hormonal imbalance.

I would say it was caused on how you were eating . If your going to go on a junk food binge make sure you are still drinking plenty of water . That will help flush out your system and prevent someone with out breaks . Best of all though just eat healthy .

dont change your eating habits, acne has to do with increased oil secretion in the sebacous glands of the skin, which can be due to increased testosterone. Anyways, just keep skin clean and oil-free, and it'll pass.
