1)Drinking a half gallon-one gallon of water a day helps by detoxing and dehydrating your body. When your body is well hydrated perhaps you will not be as hungry. But if you drink lots of soda and coffee then your body will think you are hungry all the time and you will eat more.
2) eating lean meats that are baked, boiled and roasted is better than eating meats that are deep fried(also take off the skin, the skin has too much fat)
3)eating fruits and vegetables are good for you (fresh frozen, canned, cooked)
4)eating good bread are good for you such as whole wheat, whole grain breads, and brown rice/ wild rice, rather than eating bleached white breads and bleached white rice
5)Drinking low fat milk and eating low fat dairy products such as yogurt, cottage cheese, and regular cheese is good for you (good calcium and protein) If you are allergic to cheese and dairy, then switch to soy milk and soy cheeses
6) eat at home, that way you know what is in your food (no added fat, salt, cholesterol)
7)Look at labels, look at fat grams, calories, cholesterol, protein, and decide for yourself whether that is a decent food or not
8) When looking at the label, also look at portion sizes, they'll let you know what a portion is. (Instead of just pouring yourself a bowl of cereal with milk, you should notice that most portion sizes for cereal is one cup(8oz) of cereal with 8oz of milk) Watch portion sizes!
