Does she know what sex is? If so, tell her some people find it feels good to have sex in the butt, instead of in the vagina. She'll probably be freaked out, grossed out and embarrassed, but at least she'll know!
Unless she just heard someone say "He's so anal." Then tell her it means the person is stressed and uptight and always has to have things a certain way. Ask her how she heard the word used - where, what context, etc.

You simply tell her the truth, Anal does not necessarily mean it has to be sex related.
Explain to her that the Anal is the part of her body that she has a bowel movement from; that only bowel comes out and nothing should never ever enter there unless a doctor is running some very much needed test. That by allowing something to go in that area can cause major health problems even death at times. Sometimes the simple truth works. Good Luck

well just tell her it has to do with her anus(or whatever word youre comfortable using). judging by your distress i know what youre thinkin of when you hear the word (it doesnt have to be about sex). just talk about if theres a disease down there its an anal disease and so on.

What gives you the right to explain any biological function to her. That is her parents job. I would dissown a sister that told my child about "anal". Disgusting

she should be askin her mom , ask her in what context she heard it maybe someone said "don't be so anal" you need to know why she wants to know and where she heard it, be a good aunt and investigate maybe it's something her mom should be aware of and maybe it's nothing
