i am getting a chihuhua (mix but that is the main breed the 2nd breed is unkown) i am reasearching them so any thing you know would help. and what names do u like (sorry i know i keep asking that but i love all of these great names u guys r giving me) thanks agan! ; )

i have a 3 lb one and it is male and be sure that you are ready for a clingy dog . may I also reccomend getting a crate and crate training it cause you will need it when you go away for a couple of hours or they will chew through your entire house . I love my chi and he is very attached and my husband is the primary male but this chi is closer to me . I spend alot more time with him.So please be sure you have alot of time to spend with the chi . good luck and I hope I helped.

I rescued a 3year old chi. They are the cutest, but don't let that get in the way of being firm with them or you'll have a naughty chi on your hands. They are very head strong as Mandy said, again you must be consistant with them. Chi's are the most loving little guys and are a people person dog, meaning they don't like to be alone. They do tend to connect to one person, but make sure you do socialize them with others, if you have other family members let them feed them and initiate play so the dog will be comfortable with them also. They love to be warm! Will snuggle under the covers to be warm. A sweater/coat to go outside if you live where its cold. They are very smart and you will have a great little dog. An excellent book to read is Chihuahua's for Dummies. It is a great resource for chihuahua characteristics and health. You also might want to join a chihuahua group. Yahoo has internet groups and they have a chihuahua one. It is another great resource. All chi owners and lots and lots of helpful information. Enjoy your new friend!!

chihuahua are very loyal dogs. They seem to bond with one person in the family and become very protective over that one person. I have one too and she seems to love us all but still very protective over my mother. They are pretty smart but seem to be head-strong. Thinking that they need things to their way or no way. all in all they are pretty loving and good dogs.
